MNFurs is going to mix up our bi-weekly meet during our May 28th Bi-Weekly meet. Instead of having it at our reliable Perkins location we are moving it to a different location.

On May 28th we will be holding it at: Angeno's Pizza & Pasta in Maple Grove, MN.

MNFurs will have our own private room there – many times larger than our normal Perkins event – from 5PM to Midnight. The room itself will have self-serve fountain pop so no worries on getting refills. Dinner will be served buffet style throughout the event by Angeno’s so no worries on missing out on the best food.

There is a cost for this event – $10 per person collected by Angeno’s themselves. This includes the cost of the pizza buffet, salad bar, and drink. Angeno’s makes no exceptions to this rule. Even if you decide you don’t want pizza and salad bar you still need to pay the $10 entry. Menu items are available but they will be on top of the $10 concession cost.

When: May 28, 2011
What Time: 5PM to Midnight
Where: Angeno's Pizza & Pasta
13588 80th Circle North,
Maple Grove, MN
55369-8961(763) 420-8200
Dress Code: Standard Perkins so no fursuits here but if people that want to wear ears and tails they can.
Art Code: Art needs to follow the same rules as Perkins keep it under PG-13.

See you there!

Hi all!  Your humble zebra reporting in.  I've been made the event coordinator for this event coming up and as such can offer some information about the event if there are any questions.

One thing I do want to bring to the groups attention is the fact there is a set of televisions in the room.  They are all hooked up together, so the picture on one tv is on all the tv's.  My question to the group is what would you like to put on the tv's?  Anything suggested must be within the PG-13 rating, and the sound will most likely be low to muted so that others may socialize.  Drop by any questions or suggestions in the thread and I'll review them and reply.

Humble zebra and all-around good guy.

the tables where nice lots of room for gaming and such, but if im paying $10 for all i can eat the quality could have been a lot better  and is we are to be there till midnight didnt like the fact that they closed it down right after we all payed at 8. it was also a bit far out for people from the east side of the cities i do understand that we have people from up north. but most of us are from the twin cities (to my knowledge) and something more central would be nice most of our sites we have gone to are on the west side of the cities i have been looking for places big enough to be used, so i am trying to not just complain about it but help

totally skipped the pizza thing…

Will continue to skip when at angino's pizza… (not saying that this has any bearing on any-ones decision,. but at the usual caribou and Perkins.. i can have Pie, coffee, and a few bar-drinks at applebees.. not so keen on driving 90 mins for pizza.. (shrug).

my two cents.

As with any experiment or any event comments and feedback is well appreciated.  It's okay to repeat what other people say in a previous comments because people know it's not just one voice saying something.

There are a lot of lessons to be learn from this so both positive and negative comments are appreciative.

In all honesty, I feel like I wasted $10 for thinly-crusted, greasy "pizza." I would prefer not to have to go to another meet there, it was a bit of a let down for me.

My thoughts:

Pizza: OK, I've had better I've had worse.  I could tolerate it occasionally (then again I guess I'm not that picky?  You guys would absolutely hate Cicis XD)

Space: not as much as I was lead to believe… but a 15% space or size increase; a good backup size for perkins and the group as it is right now; though any of our average-large sized meets it would still feel cramped here.  A good backup for perkins but for expansion it would not be that much.

Location: In a corner.  A lot of the people from the East Side agree with me on this; however I still think this location would be OK if we offset it with another location on the SE side of the metro and rotated between the two.  As a sole meet location it is a bad choice.  Perkins is central North/South at the very least.

Price: $10 was cheap, let's be honest.  A lot of people are griping about price but try ordering a full meal with drink at Perkins for $10.  So not an issue in my mind.

Buffet Closing:  This is something to consider.  If we were advised the buffet closes at x time its less of an issue for those who wanted to eat; just re-inforcing they need to get there earlier.  What should have happened is Buffet open from 5-7 and then buffet open from 9-12 or something for the late comers.

In short: As we learned with El Toro last year we are still looking for new venues and trying new places.  It is going to take some time to find a venue(s) worth considering replacing or at the very least an alternate to Perkins.  If anyone knows of a place that has the space we need and would allow a group the size of ours on a Sat night (which is busy night for a lot of places) let us know and we would be more then happy to arrange a time to take a look at it, and if the stars align right; even give it a try as we did with Angenos and El Toro.

We do have to realize there is no such thing as a perfect venue.  There will allways be flaws.  The key is finding the one with the least amount of flaws, IE things we can live with; and this will take time.
