Update 7 for DDO was released to day and the game got really cool.  Too much to go into now but for a free game it has reeally just uped the content and the quality.  To celebrate and have a little fun, DDO is doing an "Endless Night" celebration in game with all sorts of ad ons, bonuses, and just fun, if weird, stuff.  Me and David got a teaser of what is planned and it looks Hilarious. This celebration is all day Halloween and with the recent cancellation of the general fur Halloween event I'm suggesting a LAN party as the alternative.

The intend is to game at my house all day Sunday.  I will open house at noon on Saturday to allow people to set up computers, test network, get characters ready.  Then off to Perkins for normal Meet, then back to my place at Midnight to kick off celebrations.  Feel free to bring sleeping bags/blankets and pillows as well as computers and we will see how to make everyone comfortable. Please RSVP so I can start to get an idea how much I need to prepare and set up for this event. Saturday is set up and dinner at Perkins.  Sunday is potluck so bring food but Kitchen is available to all.

Any questions please post and respond to this thread.  If the Admins could do a cross post I would really appreciate that.

I would also like to note that: the update? Huge. As in, a huge download. It's probably going to take like an hour, sheesh. But some of the content looks like it's pretty cool. Reserving more judgement for later, when I actually get to play around with it.

Ill be working until 7:30pm so I will just meet you guys at the Perkins. Probably head to head afterwards, then join you in the morning for a lil bit before work :/

Also apparently there is a thing where you can summon a spectral dragon? Not sure since I didnt spend much time in the event after you left Flip.

Yeah played with all the new summons.  Found some bugs including why we kept running into shadows.  The umbral worg you can summon at 5th has condition lingering touch, so if something dies when it attacks then it produces a shadow, which immediatly attacks party;  that will get fixed in first patch.    Otherwsie some of the summons are really cool, beared devil is best 5th and elandri is probably best 6th

Just to say: The new raid (Chronoscope) is pretty awesome. It's crazy, though. I went in with a 10-man party on Elite (because VIP can directly open Elite now) consisting of me (Rogue), a Fighter, a Monk, a Ranger, a Sorc, 2 Bards, 2 Clerics, and a FvS. The lowest level was probably 10, and we had at least one level 20 (the FvS, I believe). Two people actually managed to die, the fighter and a cleric. Considering that the Raid is only level 6, that's crazy. We didn't use wonderful tactics, but still. Lots of Devils, and no less than THREE raid bosses! Even some silly moments, it's just awesome.

Some really funky rewards are available, too, and they bind to Account (rather than player, probably trying to get more people to buy those Shared Banks). One is a trinket that can serve to replace the necklace portion of the set items from Korthos. You know, the sets you can ony get ONE necklace from? Now you can complete any and all of them if you wish (barring other item overlaps, like gloves or boots), though the gem has no other functions by itself.

The second is a brand new set consisting of five parts. There's chest(s) at the end that can contain parts, and the turn in reward can also net parts. Wearing three or five parts grants stat and ability bonuses that are Profane in nature, so that's pretty groovy. Add in some other odd items, like weapons with Feather Fall (and other cool things). Oh, and you get a Renown bonus for every Devil you kill, it seems. We were getting 20 (5 +15 Small Guild) from each, probably got several hundred from that one Raid by itself. Total favor on the Raid is 15 at Elite, though it also has an Epic setting. Sadly, it's Coin Lord favor, something that there's already a glut of at lower levels.

Like all (non-TS) Raids, it can only be run once every 3 days per character, but the pack is (or was, at least) only 150 points and also includes another really odd mission (that's just several big fights in a row with precious few chances to rest, also with 5 base Favor).

I look at it like this: Thanks to them doing this dry run, they've been able to catch this (and other) bugs prior to the ACTUAL event, giving them time to patch the game. They've more than a week, so it shouldn't be a big issue. It sucks that it was closed (what looks like) 10 hours early, thus making me miss it, but I did that Raid instead, and that was fun.

MMMmmm……. hope it will be up for Halloween, sure they got everyone working on it.   I will still hold event if for no other reason than I'm off that weekend and have always wanted to get all the Fur DDO players Online at once.  This is open to Vetran and new players and will likly have alot of us vetrans make quick characters to help people just getting involved.  If you are intrested in trying this for first time try to make it here at 1pm Saturday, we can set up machine or laptop into network and I can give basics prior to meet, then we can group after meet and/or on Sunday.   If you need direction or more specifics post of even call if you have or know someone who has my number, this is FLIP.

I still havent made a charachter in DDO, I registered an account but that's all I've done so far; I've been too engrossed in Everquest 2 now that its free and has more Solo content (from what I am told anyways) something I can log in at a random time once or twice a week; play for an hour or two, and then log out.

I do approve of the LAN party idea.  I haven't been to one in AGES.  I'd be interested in coming if you still have room and I can make a charachter to play for the event for sure.  I'd even be willing to put some time into leveling them up before the event a little too but more or less would be a noob to it all.

I don't want to displace any room for other more expereinced players who have been involved in your guild from the start however Flip.  But if you do have an open spot let me know.  The advantage is I'll be bringing a laptop and can game from that, so I require less space.  I can even provide a TV tray table and a chair if need be.

I should be a go for this, assuming that there's room. Fury's got something to do Saturday night, and she and I can spend the rest of our weekend togeather afterwards for our anniversary. I'll probably bring a bit of food; don't really want to get into it, I'm just picky. Maybe I'll whip up a dessert to bring. I have some leftover ingredients from the last picnic.

I also run DDO from a laptop – that's a plus. I'm not sure what I want to do with my bard character at the moment, so I'd be happy to run her from the beginning (which is level 4, since I have Vet). Dunno if I'll keep Drow and do Spellsinger, do a Human Spellsinger with the new Dragonmark, or do a Human Virtuoso with the Dragonmark (Haggling build). I kinda want to wait on Champion for the Humans, as it would help a lot, so I may stay with what I have. I just really wanna play with that new Dragonmark to make people even happier to have me around in the group :P

If you want to do some pre event work show up Saturday as this will make sure latest patch is working, got yourself configured and have an idea how interface works.  So show up around noon to 1pm and after so set up and tutorial we go to Perkins.  Then group up and play that overnight/Sunday.  As for being a noob, I actually enjoy helping people out in the first area (called Korthos) and I have a quick build that allows me to run a character very usefull in guiding new players around and still allows new players to get good and fast XP.   My only suggestion is make a character ahead of time as all new characters are forced to do a 15-30 minute turtorial level that is really good at outlining basics (yes, you will be frustrated by the swiming part, learning how to move character around like a first person shooter helps).  Other than that, if you can get to level 2 before that day would help but not required.   If you need help for a character build just post and I'll give you a good one.  Experience has shown Melee classes and Clerics are easiest to learn at low levels but thier is still very viable spellcaster and specialist classes if you build them right.

You CAN actually skip the tutorial if you want, I believe. You should still get all the rewards. Maybe the first character isn't allowed to, but I know that later ones can.

I tried out the even today becasue I was sick. The whole graveyard-fighting-undead thing was fun for a little bit, but it quickly became old. The reasons are many, but the simple part is that the drops are too sparodic and you get nothing else from it. In about 2 hours of play with my rogue and wizard, I got maybe 500 Motes between them – just enough for the lowest tier of equipment. Since said equipment is also Bound to Character, this means that in order to get the "good stuff" (the higher tiers, each item has 5 levels) I'd have to spend all day grinding for motes – lame. Were it a week-long event, this would be more acceptable, but it supposedly isn't.

Rogues are also totally pointless in the Graveyard, since there are no traps, no locks, and nothing to sneak attack. They just become gimped fighters with lower HP, AC, and fewer weapons available. A party of about 6 clerics and 6 melee tanks would be ideal; subbing in a few arcane casters if the party is lower level. Reason being that clerics have that crazy heal burst aura (if they're Radients), AoE heal spells, and boosts for said spells that just annihilate the undead. One of the clerics in the party I was in today was doing 200+ damage with just Mass Cure Light spells. That's enough to make anyone else feel almost useless.

Altough I'm curious about the Spectral Dragon thing, if the only reward is a scale and the only purpose of said scale is to upgrade equipment that already takes gobs of Motes that also have to be farmed for, I'm blasse about fighting it. I suppose I'll give it a try as both of my characters have a Key and there's nothing else I can do with it – it can't be traded or sold.

Eh, point is, I'm not really looking forward to playing with the event any more. Playing togeather, that could be fun. The event itself just gets a "boo" from me. Spending an entire day to try to get one item (and NOTHING else) isn't my idea of fun. Risia was okay since it didn't ask me to do anything special, just adventure normally for the most part. Endless Night I would dub "Endless Grind" and part of what I enjoy about DDO is that it just doesn't feel like a grind.

Blah, got windy there. Sorry.

Made my charachter; decided to go with a Dwarven Paladin for a tank charachter that is therortically harder to kill.

A little annoyed how the constitution on a defender dwarven paladin starting is 10 and his "dump" stat.  Aren't dwarves supposed to have a Con bonus to begin with?  Why the heck would they give such a low starting stat to a Dwarven Paladin?  I'd much rather have Dex lower instead; heck I'd even take a negative modifier to dex for this type of charachter….  If I got those sort of rolls on a real pen and paper charachter and not able to use re-rolls I would crumple the charachter sheet up and start over at that point….

After restarting the charachter once I found out they are static starting stats and not random *shrugs* whatever.  There are ingame items that boost con but still, its rather dumb if you ask me.

Anyways…. I've gotten almost to level 2 and should have no problem being at that for the start of the event for sure.  Thank god the game has gamepad support, it would be almost unplayable for me without one.  The controls are very odd for a MMORPG, it feels a lot more like Obilvion then anything else. No autoattack=fail.  I need to be able to attack and move with only one hand and so far the 360 controller seems to be the solution to that little irratation.  Interesting enough they let you map the camera to the joypad which is really cool, and this is the first MMO I've seen that natively lets you do that without a 3rd party keymapper.

I'm still interested in the LAN party if it is still happening however.  I will be at the meet on Sat and could just follow you back from there if your still going to do the setup and such then?  I'll make sure my laptop has all the appropriate patches and such come Sat morning.

You CAN set stats to suit – you need to select the Customize option when selecting a class path to do so, however. You also then have to set all Feats, skills, spells (if applicable), etc. You'll have to for all remaining levels, as well, but I doubt you'd mind any of that. Assuming you want to restart your character yet again at this point. The paths are mostly there for people that aren't familiar with D&D, so that they can get a pre-made character that fits into those archtypes and isn't gimped by weak stats.

Again, the Halloween event is only part of evening and I do not expect alot of "mining" as that for the entire day/evening would be kinda pointless.  The full purpose is to have a day of LAN gaming, noob, casual and vetran, playing different builds with each other and mix in up a bit and in general give us something to do for Halloween as well as get all the furs on server at rougphly the same time.  As for the Dwarven Paladin, several points.  1: I Suggest custom builds for characters.  If you need suggestions, I can offer alot of advice on advatages and disadvatages based soly on what would you like to do well.  2: Sadly the math on Dwarves is they get +2 CON and -2 CHR so the "generic" formula they use for Paladins gets kinda mangled with Dwarves as CHR is a kinda major stat for Paladins.  3.  Because the race and the class conflict a little, you may wish to choose one or the other and do a build that does not fight itslef in some of the advantages/disadvatages of race/class.  Suggest either Dwarven Fighter (which can tank AWESOME) or a Human Paladin (which is Captain versatile and still tanks really well, just differently).   Again hope is to have house open around noon  to 1pm tommarrow.

I didn't think it would be the whole thing. Just tossing in my two cents about it.

I, at least, don't know where you live. Even to then general location. I don't know that I'd be able to make it early, anyhow. Things to do tomorrow, and I don't know that Fury has a ride to the meet. So unless you live in the northern part of the Cities, probably won't see you until the meet. I might try to get on DDO, though, for a bit.
