The guild has pretty much disbanded then?  Pity… even though I didn't have time really for playing during the week I did miss your DDO Lan parties, Flip…

I know I've let it lapse. I've not really moved on to any other games… just the way my schedule pans out now I don't want to spend the time I have on DDO. I always have problems finding a good group for higher level stuff and I don't know that I want to run the low-level things right now.

I got a silly idea, GPS is running big gaming event over at the Event horizon center on Saturday.  Anyone want to set up LAN pit for some DDO?  If there is interest i will confirm time and viability with event coordinator Thursday (I'm there for Thursday's events anyhow)

I'm still stuck with a lower level charachter I think, but I would be interested.  Maybe if I have time I'll try to level a little in the evening after work the next few days…

As of right now… I don't think I have anything going on this Sat…

Lower level character is never bad, I just need to "remake" a 4th so i can quest with you, no biggy.  The center opens at 10AM but I'll be lucky if i can get there before noon with my standard overnight sleep schedule.

No worries, I'm not a morning person either, on weekends atleast.  I doubt I'd be able to make it that early either… So this is an all day thing then?

These guys that made D&D Online is a great example how to do free to play right. Highly recommend to try.  Never got into D&D Online myself but I can recognize the model being a good one!

Well, It took 15 hrs, but I finally got it downloaded and installed. I'll play around with it later (such as figuring out how it works.)

Honestly, It's probably because it's coming off pay-to-play. That sort of thing gets you a bigger budget to use in the initial development phase, so you get something much more polished. I will say that they seem to have worked in the D&D rule system quite well, while being able to keep with being an MMO that isn't radically different from what people are used to. The biggest problem with the game is that there's precious little solo-able content past even level 5 or so if you're not completely tweeked out, and the party system can make getting a useable party together a hassle that takes a lot of time. But that's because that's a limitation of the D&D system as it was never made for solo play, it was made for a group of friends; it's not really a fault in the game's design.

Lord of the Rings Online is probably pretty good for the same reason, as with Everquest 2 and now City of Heroes.

Pretty much sums up my opinion it really helps D&D Online (and others) that were paid games to have the big budget when they went F2P they had the content and the variety it was making the system work for that content.

the reason i didn't' get far in the pay or free-to-play D&D Online was the game design trying to be more to a party to play.  But I do appreciate their model more than a few other F2P come into play.

Though I still like EQ2 and the model for CoH looks more interesting that the model that Champions did.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG *RUNS AROUND AFTER MY OWN TAIL* OMG IT'S A TAIL!
