BOWLING !!
2/3/12 — FINAL EDIT WITH MORE DETAILS:
Sky Deck @ MoA —– SUNDAY Feb 5, 2012 —— Noon till ???
Sky Deck is up on the 4th floor in the Sears corner. They have arcade games, pool tables, bowling, a small sports-bar type eating area, and a full-service bar.
They do not have a "private" party room, however they will reserve their "party area" (lanes 1-4) for us and we can use that area to pile up suit tubs and bags and such. There's a lounge area by those lanes that we can claim too. The bathroom is a single-person, large room, so there is plenty of space to change, and there is a small, partial "wall" that partially separates our bowling area from the rest of the lanes so if you have a slip-on/slip-off suit, or a partial, you can easily use that for cover.
There will be 2 birthday parties going on Sunday afternoon, so there will be kids there! Lots of photo opportunities, I'm sure! I just found this out this morning (2/3/12)! The birthday parties are scheduled to start at noon, so show up a little bit early and suit up before they get there. :) I may try to get there around 1130 or so.
We would be able to run around in the Sky Deck facility, and play all the games, we just can't go out into the mall hallway in suit. PLEASE STAY INSIDE SKYDECK WHILE WEARING YOUR SUIT.
I have LONG LONG LONG STRAWS for drinking in suit! So we can get water / whatever in suit and not look silly doing it in public :) Remember: "Don't eat the bottle!"
SO FAR THE TOTAL HEADCOUNT IS APPROACHING 40! That's awesome!! Can we break 50? That would be spectacular!
COST: $3 / person
Everybody can do whatever they want, when they want ($3 cover charge at the door)
a. Bowling is $4 per person per game, plus $3 one-time for shoes. Or $35/hr unlimited games. FURSUIT PAWS ARE ALLOWED ON THE BOWLING FLOOR
b. Pool tables are $12/hr, which can be broken into 15-minute blocks ($6/30min, $3/15min).
c. unlimited soda is $3 per person. (I am suggesting this as the "cover charge" at the door for convenience if nothing else).
d. bar drinks are at your own cost, nothing special there. You will not be able to buy alcohol while in suit, since the bar tender must be able to identify your face to your license for age verification.
e. arcades are pay-per-play as usual. NOTE The SkyDeck uses reloadable "cards" for the arcades. There are refill stations around the arcade area.
f. food is pay-per-order as usual.
I am sponsoring a badge from ZenFox for the event. It's fantastically cute, he did a spectacular piece! I do not have any badge holders tho, so please bring a badge holder. Badges will be available at the door from me, or pre-pay at the biweekly meet 2/4.
OTHER ACTIVITIES:
In addition to the Sky Deck bowling, I have arranged other activities that you can participate in at will, any time you want.
1. MINIGOLF. Minigolf is $6.50 per person in groups of 4. ($26 / 4 people) So if you want to play minigolf, gather up 3 others and go have a round. They would not offer a special group discount beyond the "family" rate. Remember that suits are not allowed in the mall, so if you want to play minigolf, be sure to dress appropriately for the mall security requirements. Ears and tails and such are fine.
2. JAMBA JUICE. The new Jamba Juice store is located directly UNDER the SkyDeck on the 3rd floor. They have an OUTSTANDING offer for us! Please ask Tek to get one of the discount cards, or pick one up with your badge on Saturday. These cards are good all the way until December, so hang on to them!!! You can use these cards any time, all year, and they're good for unlimited use. The card gets you a 10% discount on purchases in this location only. IN ADDITION to the discount card, The manager on duty has offered to unofficially give us "multiple stamps" (as a friendly gesture, not a requirement, so don't abuse it!) on the "buy 6 get 1 free" cards. So when you go in to Jamba on Sunday, mention that you are with the MN FURS (or show your ears and tails), use your 10% discount card, and be sure to get the frequent flyer card stamped! There is an additional benefit to the group from Jamba too… I am working on a long term project with them, if it works out, it will benefit MN FURS for the whole year! So support your group, go there often!!! And be sure to always mention you are with our group so we get credit.
3. The Princess Dianna memorial display is opening up on Saturday 2/4. It runs thru September, so if you're into that kind of thing, you can enjoy that. I do not know the cost, but it is a separate function. It is located right next to Sky Deck on the 4th floor. I think the ticket sales box office is there next to the exhibit entrance.
4. BOWLING TOURNAMENT: I am sponsoring a FurSuit Bowling Tournament, if there is enough interest in it. NonSuiters who want to enter will have to be handicapped somehow… we'll have some fun and figure that out as needed. :) There is no seperate entrance fee, just pay for the games you play. The tournament will begin at 1pm, so everyone can have some warmups and such beforehand. I WILL DONATE 2 PRIZES TO THE WINNER AND 2nd PLACE, to be awarded when the tournament is over. If someone else wants to donate a 3rd prize, that would be awesome. And yes, I will be entering it! :) First place will be a set of fursuit sandals or a harness that I make. 2nd place will be a $25 credit to Stir Crazy. If 1st place is taken by a non-suiter, we can swap the card and shoes accordingly. I'll bring a white board to keep track of the games.
PARKING:
Park in the East side garage, on level 5 or 6, near the Sears corner. There is a shortcut door in the Sears corner that may be open because of the Dianna exhibit… if it is, that is the fastest way in, as it comes in right next to the Sky Deck. If that door is closed, then come in thru the usual East entrance. I will have a handtruck on site, so if you would like to borrow it, just come in to SkyDeck and let me know.
RIDESHARE:
If anyone would like to ride with me, I'm able to take a few folks. I will be leaving from my apartment in downtown MPLS at about 10:30am, and will be at the mall probably at least until 5pm or so… Parking at my apartment is free, off-street.
You can note me on FA or here to reply. I have a related journal here: http://www.furaffinity.net/jou…..l/3095977/
Thanks all !!! :)
