Hey I thought I would get a feel here to see who would be interested in getting together again for a Sushi/Hibachi dinner meet on an off weekend sometime in December. I say December because October seems to be already quite full and November is MFF and Thanksgiving. SO! Raise of paws who would be interested in this and also what place should we go?
Those of you who joined us last time know we went to Osaka in Roseville, but it didn't work out all too well even with reservation and we ended up waiting a good hour while not even being seated all together. So, I would love to hear everyone's suggestions on good sushi and Hibachi places around the Twin Cities area! Below is a bit of info about the places to keep in mind:
Expect to pay at least $20 when dinning, sushi gets costly fast and hibachi starts at about $15 most places for a basic dish.
I want a place that has not only sushi but does offer hibachi so that people who are not as fond of fish can find something they enjoy as well!
And just throwing this out there, not all sushi is raw fish =P a lot of it is smoked, cooked, deep fried, and tempura!
So please post your suggestions on not only what place we should all go to, but what date works best in December for you! I would like to do this on an off meet weekend! Thanks for reading and I hope we can make this happen again!

OMG I'm most definitely interested.
I'd recommend Benihana. There are two locations. One is in Maple Grove and the other is off of 394 and louisiana avenue. The prices are a little more expensive than Osaka, but I've been there for sushi/hibachi lots of times as a big group and never experienced any problems.

Benihana is good..
Another choice (untested mind you) is Saji Ya. It is right by Grand Ave and Dale Street in St Paul just south of I-94.
There is also Ichiban. Which I can say they have good food as well. I'm trying to remember.. I think I like Benihana's pre-course food better, but Ichiban's actually meal better. (Bad thing: Parking.. one may need to pay or walk a good distance)
Also Eagan has one called Kyoto. They are rather small… So it may not be good for a big outing, but the food is good. (Again, I'm not a big fan of their pre-course food).
Lastly there is one in Apple Valley called Kami. I'm told by friends that my bad experience there was a fluke. So it may be worth trying again. The pre-course was good, but my issue was the poor cut of Filet mignon and how over cooked it was (read: chewy =).
And as stated other than Saji Ya.. I've eaten at the other 4 locations with group of at least 5 people and they were good. I can't speak for larger groups.

Hate sushi, but love Hibachi. As long as that's an option and I can afford it; I'm in for sure :)

This may seem odd, but what about a sushi making outing? I know some people who could make it if we buy supplies.

Don't know..but a new place in West St Paul off of South Robert's opened up "Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet" pretty much across the street from Great Moon Buffet.
Not dead sure if it is a real "hibachi" place yet…

Mourning- there is also a Hibachi all you can eat "buffet" in Mineapolis. Both scare me considerably… I don't think you could pay my way there.
Kurst's joke about the place in West St Paul was something on the lines of "Hibachi style chicken nuggets all you can eat"
