Anime Detour, the largest fandom convention in our region, is getting a new feature this year. Please help your very own MNFurs present a positive appearance to our 5000+ anime brothers and sisters who may also be furries without being aware of it.

Why would a furry want to come to Anime Detour?

• First – A poolside side room party to do furry events, hang out with friends and talk with new comers.
• Second – Panels that talk about anthro creatures in Japenese Culture and anime through art and costuming.
• Third – A place to strut not only artwork through the artshow but also furry version of cosplay – fursuit, ears, and tails.
• Fourth – A way to build relationships with other fandoms that share common interest with our own.

Sounds like fun? It is! And we hope you will joing MNFurs in going!

If you’re not already registered for the con, do so soon! This is a capped convention – once filled they close registration until 2013! So don’t wait preregistration is just $35 and goes up to $50 after New Years.

This year MNFurs would like to kick the new year into high gear by entering into the 2012 Saint Paul Winter Carnival parade happening on January 28th, 2012.

Those with full suit, partial suit, ears and tails or no suit at all can all enjoy waving and smiling at the parade watching public.

Everyone that is participating in the parade will need to fill out a form and provide $5.00. If you do not fill out the form or pay the fee you cannot be part of the parade.

Sign up happens at the November 26, 2011 and December 10th at the bi-weekly Perkins meet. If you cannot make this or have additional questions please contact wintercarnival@mnfurs.org.

Also please note we are having a costume contest with two categories, best fursuit and best non-fursuit costume. In both cases we are determining “costume” as “anything beyond what is normally attire.” As such we’ll be looking at what you add to your fursuit to be more important than the fursuit itself!

You have less than a week-and-a-half before the September 24th cut off date for the $94 discounted rate for October Minnesota Furry Gathering happening on October 15th. If you miss this deadline you’ll be stuck paying $139 for a party or sleeping room. So you better hurry.

Have a costume, a fursuit, or just want to help keep a local zoo free from admission?

Como Park is having an annual Zoo Boo and we are asking our members if they would like to help out to join in the fun. This is a five day event on the 22nd, 23rd, 28th, 29th, and 30th that provides a safe way for kids to trick or treat in a friendly non scary environment.

They are actively looking for people who have costumes, willing to wear there costumes, or just want to help out this activity. This is great way to have fun and help out the local community. It’s an experience you won’t get anywhere else!

Starting at 10PM after the picnic – MNfurs will be switching location to the GPS’ Community Center for a night of dancing, drawing art, mature art show, socializing with old and new friends, and more.

This is an 18 and over event so you must bring your ID because we will be carding at the door.

As we slowly move past the scotching hot days of summer into the cool fall months MNFurs is going to have a smattering of things happening in September and beyond. Lets go over some of September highlights.

September 3rd starting @ 5PM – Bi-Weekly meet at Perkins. You can also preregister for October Minnesota Furry Gathering for just 15 dollars at the meet.

October is going to be a busy month too. Some of the major activities include October Minnesota Furry Gathering on October 15th, Anoka Halloween Grand Parade on the 28th and MNFurs Voleentering for Como Zoo Boo on October 22, 23, 27, 28, and 29.

One last reminder – pre-registration for October Minnesota Furry Gathering will be available at bi-weekly meets and at the spring picnic. Sorry we can't do pre-registration online.
