As we slowly move past the scotching hot days of summer into the cool fall months MNFurs is going to have a smattering of things happening in September and beyond. Lets go over some of September highlights.

September 3rd starting @ 5PM – Bi-Weekly meet at Perkins. You can also preregister for October Minnesota Furry Gathering for just 15 dollars at the meet.

September 9th starting @ 7PM – MNFurs 2011 Fall Pre Picnic Celebration. Indoor fun for fursuiting, art, gaming, and more. Check out MNFurs 2011 Fall Pre Picnic Celebration Web Page for more details.

September 10th starting @ 11AM – MNFurs 2011 Fall Picnic – Basking in the Sun – Picnic full of fun and suprises. For more details check out MNFurs 2011 Fall Picnic web page for more details.

September 10th starting @10PM – MNFurs 2011 Fall Picnic Post Event – Furs After Dark. This is a 18 and over event including dancing, art and socializing. For more information check out MNFurs 2011 Fall Picnic – Furs After Dark.

October Highlights

October is going to be a busy month too. Some of the major activities include October Minnesota Furry Gathering on October 15th, Anoka Halloween Grand Parade on the 28th and MNFurs Voleentering for Como Zoo Boo on October 22, 23, 27, 28, and 29.

And many more things happening in September and October – check out the MNFurs website and forums for events going on by our members and possibly by YOU.

One last reminder – pre-registration for October Minnesota Furry Gathering will be available at bi-weekly meets and at the spring picnic. Sorry we can't do pre-registration online.

Because of this, every day we are going to post a little something to remind people about the event and keep the excitment going! Today’s topic is Gaming.

We are going to have a dedicated gaming room at the event; how cool is that? The Woodbury Room AKA the “Paul Bunyan Forest” which is conveniently located at the front of the hotel overlooking the main lobby will be where all the action is.

Video games will start with Kinect and Rockband for the afternoon, and will be moved to open gaming for most of the rest of the night. The other half of the room will have tables so you and your friends can join in a tabletop game such as Dominion or Apples to Apples.

In addition, after 7pm their will be a Poker Tournament in the Parlor Room (St Croix Forest) followed by Are you a Werewolf?- a Live action Role Playing Party Game where you try to guess who’s the werewolf before they munch on all your townspeople.

Gaming at Snowpocalypse 2011, guaranteed to be a blast!

You know Minnesota, you know the winter, we all fear it and it’s coming back to Minnesota! Snowpocalypse is officially coming March 12, 2011! This hotel event located in Saint Paul, Minnesota is put on by MNFurs for enjoyment of everyone in the furry fandom.

This event will include fursuiting, night dances, socializing, and many other furry related events. Cost for the main event areas is FREE while “The Den” and an offical MNFurs Snowpocalypse badge is available pre-registration price of $5 or $10 at the door. The fall picnic is over and was a huge success. It was great to see everyone there and I hope everyone had fun.

Sonic God has started a threat on the forums about suggestions for this year fursuit games. Also if you have anything you want to do or suggest for the picnic feel free to make a topic and post it in the events forum.

If people like the venue and would like to do this again someday please order something and tip generously. The better patrons we are and the more we give them the better chance we will be able to use this venue for future meets and events.

This Event REPLACES the Perkins Meet so there will be NO normal Perkins meet this weekend. (check the event details link below for a map and address) This will be on Sat Sept 4th;  Same time, 5pm.  The Restaurant is not 24 hours and closes at midnight.

The food quality is good and price is around or below the same price as Perkins.  Note this is mostly Mexican food; they have some American options such as steak and salads but it is a little limited for those who want something other then burritos and tacos.  That being said, the food is good and you get good sized portions for reasonable prices.

There are three parts of the restaurant plus a downstairs room.  The upstairs portion has one main dining room plus two semi-private rooms which are both individually bigger then the space we have at Perkins.  We have an arrangement that as long as people are ordering food we get the upstairs room for FREE.

When you get inside the restaurnt, take a right and head back to the last section of the Restaurant on the far end. We will be at the back-end room on the main level.

PLEASE order something even if it’s just a drink or appetizer. Our chances of coming back here for future events all depends on the manager being happy with our group taking up a significant part of his restaurant during prime-time.

Call this a dry run, if you will.  While this will not replace our Perkins meet location with this restaurant we would like to do future events here, and possibly ease our presence at Perkins with an occasional off-perkins meet like this.

Since this is our first time at this venue, we do ask that Tails/Ears/Suits and fursuit parts are left in the car.  Also please be careful of drawing/displaying adult artwork around the staff.

When: Sat Sept 4th 5pm-11/12pm (There is NO Perkins meet this weekend- replaced by the El Toro Meet)

Details:  We are trying something new as a dry run for alternate meet locations, El Toro has a larger semi-private room I have reserved for us for the first furmeet in September (Labor Day Weekend).  Think Perkins, only bigger.  While the Menu has mostly Mexican food the quality is good, and it is very reasonable.

Since this is our first event at this venue, we do ask that ears/tails/fursuits or fursuit parts are left in the car.  We also ask that everyone orders something even if its just a drink.  The more we order the better the chance that we can use this venue for another event in the future.

From the East/West on the 494 loop

Take 494 East/West to Hwy 52 north.  Take 52 north to the LAST exit before heading over the river (Plato Blvd).

Take a LEFT on Plato Blvd heading Westbound.  El Toro will be on your right hand side right on Plato about 1/4 to 1/2 a mile West of 52.  Look for the large multi-colored pyramids on the roof (Formerly Awaddas)

From the North

Take 694 East/west to Hwy 35E.  Take 35 E South to the hwy 52 Exit (will be a left side exit)

Cross over the Mississippi river bridge leading out of Downtown St Paul.  Take the FIRST exit off of 52 as you cross over the river- Plato Blvd.
