Stand Alone Mobile App For MNFurs Chat In Beta

At first MNFurs chat only worked on desktop browsers then MNFurs Chat became mobile web browser friendly. Now for android and iOS users we are testing out a native chat app on your phone or tablet.

The experience in the iOS/Android app mimics the feel of the web site plus you can talk to anyone on the website.  So you can do one on one chats or full fledge group chats with anyone logged into MNFurs website.

And best of all, you can get push messages so even if you aren’t running the chat you can get personal messages sent to you.

FAQ
Q) Does it cost anything to use?
A) Only the typical data charge of your data plan usage. Otherwise it’s free for you to use.

Q) Do you keep messages?
A) Not really we keep a small cache of old messages in server memory but most of the messages are deleted shortly after receiving for privacy and disk space reasons.

Q) I went to the chatroom and left the app. I am getting messages from the chat room. HOW DO YOU MAKE IT STOP?
A) You can either select “leave chatroom” or log off from the menu.

Q) Why do the avatars look a little blurry?
A) We are using the smaller avatars (Think thumbnail) to be nicer on phones data connection. Also if the Avatars take too long loading you might miss a message. Don’t want that to happen.

Q) The chat reacts slow sometimes why is that?
A) The chat system is “resource saving” as in it uses a reduce network resources when you aren’t using it. So when you send a private message at first it’s very slow to react. As you use it will “ramp up the speed” and provide a better and faster connection.

Q) The App has “Comet Chat” as the name not MNFurs why is that?
A) There are $399 reasons why it says it. We are using Comet Chat as our back end and right now to get the mobile chat working we can either program our own, use the free one by Comet Chat, or pay $399 for personalized one. We are going with the free one because the price is right.

Q) I received an email that someone sent me a private message on the site, but it didn’t appear in my messenger.
A) Well the web site messenger system is separate from the chat system at this time. The web/mobile chat is more for “quick messages” and can be lost easily.

Known Issues
Right now I had to disable the initial chat history when you start up the app. It had side effects of pushing out multiple messages and I need to find a fool proof fix for it.
