Minnesota Furs (MNFurs) has and continues to be committed to providing our community with a variety of social events throughout the year. It’s our mission to empower people to create long and lasting friendships, to promote educational opportunities, and to give everyone a safe space to have fun. Over the years, the cornerstone of our events has been our bi-weekly fur meet. These meets, traditionally held in Hopkins, are the rallying cry for the local furry fandom. You may have noticed that our fur meets as of late are a little more unpredictable with the inclusion of many other meets. The new meets now cover the West Metro, North Metro, and the Oval in Roseville as well as new locations in development.
We want to take a moment and fully address the changes in the fur meets.
A primary goal of MNFurs is to have a location for the entire local communities together under one roof. Being at the Guidant John Rose Minnesota Oval gives us the chance to have artists, gamers, social butterflies, fursuiters, and any other group of furries to co-exist in one space. This year, with the Event Department’s amazing help, the Board of Directors saw the opportunity to make this dream a reality.
Coinciding with these new meet locations, the Hopkins meets are experiencing increasing strain from the restaurants we attend. We have relied on their generosity for many years, but our social events are now becoming too much for them to handle and our patronage is negatively impacting their business. For this reason, we are setting up smaller regional meets in between the monthly Oval meets. Events will still happen in Hopkins and have been renamed the West Metro Meet. We hope this will take some of the pressure off of our host, Perkins Restaurant & Bakery.
We hope that all the new events will make fur meets more accessible and that we can continue to provide additional events and services in the future. Always be mindful of our event locations. They are businesses who exist by our support, so please help them out and follow their rules.
