Some had heard rumors that Ren fest this year was not allowing people with full facial coverings to enter the grounds, according to my folks who were there as of today (Labor Day) this is completely accurate, so none of us will be allowed to enter Ren fest this year in our fursuits unless something changes. This news just really sucks since we have been doing this for many years.
Figured I should share this with the group so they know.
Thanks for the update, I was wondering about that actually. Was going to bring my Purple Mage. Not as fun if you can see my face."The problem is not that there are too many idiots in the world, the problem is the distribution of lightning."
- Mark TwainIf you work for the ren fest as a “act” you can wear fullface masks. I have a few people I know that went in realistic fursuits as a act and they just took loops around the fest and interacted with people. Im not too sure how you would do that but I just know its possible.Thank you for making this post though that way more people are aware before they plan on going with fullface masks and ending up not being able to wear it. <3

Well i know the rumors on the full facial covering were going around at FM so I figured since the folks were going i would have them ask and that should clear up all speculation in the process. Just sucks that they are doing this now, I enjoyed roaming the grounds and interacting with both staff and patrons alike, was like ZooBoo but with less chance of being run over by little kids. 🙂It’s odd, a friend of mine who went on Sunday said he saw several people with covered faces, and he doubted they were all acts. Could be inconsistent enforcement."The problem is not that there are too many idiots in the world, the problem is the distribution of lightning."
- Mark TwainA friend of mine told me they’ll OK it if you call ahead. So mixed reports then, guess i need to contact them directly then and get it in writing so to speak. Or as close to an official ruling on this as we can get anyway. I know at FM there was a report of at least one person being removed from the grounds for a full facial covering.aw thats lame. ill just wear my paws and earsI’d been planning to wear my Purple Wizard costume from FM. I wasn’t going to originally (renaissance was supposed to be the time of logic and reason I thought) but apparently there are entertainers dressed as wizards anyway.Hmm, I’ll have to call ahead when I actually get around to going.

- Mark TwainI have written an Email to them as of last night looking for more or less the “Official” word on what is going on since I guess the no full facial covering rule is something new as of this year. Just have to wait and see if i get a reply and what that will be since i wrote the Entertainment department directly as they have been the people who have come out and approved my suit for entry to the grounds in the first place.Starting to sound like we might need something in writing with us. I’m less than thrilled about the concept."The problem is not that there are too many idiots in the world, the problem is the distribution of lightning."
- Mark TwainOk, I wrote Ren Fest Entertainment Dept before I went out of town on the 10th and they have not gotten back to me on if people will or will not be allowed to wear their “Costumes” at Ren fest this year, has anyone been there recently and been able to find out any additional information on this Mask stuff as to if it will be possible to suit there?I was there this past weekend and stopped by the information booth. They told me the only way around it was if you either to have an act on stage or be Ren Fest staff. That is so very unfortunate. I had been doing this for 4-5 years and being entertaining, even was given to the prince to add to the stables, the staff loved interacting with me, I was called on stage to dance with the Morris dancers last year (There was video, it did happen) and I am a terrible dancer. *laughs* -
