I am a hella closeted furry and am looking to get involved in the community, but I don’t want to buy tickets for something I know nothing about. Could someone just give me an idea of what to expect if I were to go?Hi Rebecca!
Just curious but have you been to any other fan conventions such as anime, gaming or scifi? They all have far more similarities than differences.
Our convention has an artist alley where you can commission artists for artwork. It has a dealers den where you can purchase furry merchandise from vendors. There’s a room for videogaming and one for table-top gaming, where you can just stroll in and play some games – which can be a good ice breaker for meeting new people. We have lots of programming for almost every interest. You can attend a meet and greet for newer furries, we have panels on how to do artwork and fursuit construction. We have dances, and talks with our guests of honor. And we’re located in downtown Minneapolis which has some fantastic restaurants within walking distance.
If you are unsure, you don’t have to pre-register. You can register at the door. That way there’s no pressure. =)
I’ve never actually been to anything really U.U but it sounds simple enough. And just about everything you mentioned I know I would enjoy. If I were to go I would be bringing a friend just so I am not hiding in a corner the whole time. You’ve honestly really convinced me with just one post, haha.
While Aerak said everything right above. But I just would like to emphasis for me it’s not just dances, panels, dealers, art show.
It’s all about making new memories and having fun with family, friends, and even new friends from around the world 🙂And it’s the people is the reason why I go to con and help cons 🙂

Kurst "YipYap" HyperyoteThose events sound like fun, especially the meet and greet for new furries as I don’t know anyone in the community yet. I’d like to get more involved and make some new friends despite my social anxiety. The last time I went to a meet way back in January was a bit overwhelming for me (pulling my back carrying in some heavy items didn’t help either) but I’m ready to try again. The fursuit construction panels sound neat too. I went on the FM website and didn’t see any specifics on those events. I assume one can purchase artwork, fursuit accessories all day, but do you have a link as to when these other events are happening? Thanks!
I didn’t know there was an art show, for one. Once I get some more pieces done I’d love to show them off and maybe sell one or two!

Conventions feel different than a community meetup or event. There is a lot more that is going on in convention and a lot of people coming from all parts of the convention.

Furry Migration’s main schedule is being made right now. We are hoping to have part of it up on the website in the next week or sooner.
For buying/and selling at a Furry Migration the convention itself doesn’t sell it but vendors in the dealers room, the art show, and artist alley.
There will be more information as the con gets closer!
