Minnesota Furs is gearing up for its annual elections this March. These elections determine who will sit on the Board of Directors, lead MNFurs, and shape our future. We have two seats that are up for grabs this year. This is your chance to lead and help affect this great group in exciting ways!
The Board, what is it all about and what do they do? The Minnesota Furs Board of Directors oversees the organization’s fiduciary responsibilities and day to day operations. Directors work at large, meaning that they do not get elected to specific positions, they take on responsibilities based on their skillsets. Ideally, they are managers who steer the organization in the direction of the communities wishes. Time requirements include up to 12 monthly meetings, a weekend retreat, any training to meet state and federal requirements and be part of the community at large.
Candidates must be nominated for the seat, by yourself or another, and submit it to [email protected] for formal recognition. At the time of submission, the nominee must have completed at least 20 volunteer hours for MNFurs and/or Furry Migration, and be a member in good standing.
We have several opportunities planned for candidates to present themselves to the community. Ranging from a mid-day debate followed by a lunch social afterward to commercials and various online postings, all designed for you to get your word out to the voting membership. The voters must also have to have completed at least 20 hours of volunteering by March 1st before they can decide on who they’d like to lead the group forward!
