Celebrating a Decade of Community and Creativity: The Minnesota Furs Documentary Project
As we mark the 10th anniversary of Minnesota Furs, a cherished 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are excited to announce an upcoming documentary project that delves into the vibrant history and inspiring tales of our community. This feature-length documentary, envisioned to span 30-45 minutes, aims to capture the spirit and milestones of our organization—from its official incorporation to the flourishing of our annual convention, and the personal journeys of our members.
This project has been ongoing for awhile now, but is starting to pickup speed. Take a look at teaser “What Does MNFurs Mean To You“?
We are on the lookout for passionate individuals to bring this project to life. Whether you are a seasoned technician with expertise in film production (or entry-level; with a passion to help), or someone with a story to tell about your experiences within the Minnesota Furs community, we invite you to join us. This documentary is not just a reflection of our past but a celebration of the connections and creativity that continue to thrive within our group.

Equipment
Equipment will be provided, though you’re welcome to use your own gear if you have it and are more comfortable with it. That will also allow for us to capture more ad-hoc interviews on the fly without having to coordinate gear. We’re aiming for shooting in 2k resolution at minimum, and a framerate of 29.98fps (or 60, undecided). Primary camera that will be used is a Sony Cinema Line FX3 with a 50 and 80mm lens.
Some interviews will be recorded on-site at subjects residence, on-site at a public library during a reservation slot, or at events.
B-roll will be needed so the entire thing is not talking heads. We will be seeking for b-roll capture at events starting in May 2024.
Please email [email protected] or [email protected] if you are interested in helping.
