Greetings Community!
The previously held public Q&A Session for the Board of Directors candidates is now live on our YouTube. For those that weren’t able to make it, you can find AlphaWhiteFangs and Talons absentee sessions online as well.
Additionally, our candidates were asked to submit biography responses to canned questions, which are available over here (https://www.mnfurs.org/forums/forum/mnfurs-forums/2025-elections/meet-the-candidates/).
Whats Next?
Voting opens December 19th to our community members that have 20 or more logged volunteer hours. As per the timeline previously released and advertised, Volunteer hours were/are due by 11:59pm on December 17th, 2025. For those who have the hours needed to vote can vote at volunteers.mnfurs.org. We released a resource that outlines how voting works this year.
How to be an informed voter
Minnesota Furs’ Board of Directors plays a vital role in guiding the organization’s mission, supporting our community, and ensuring the long-term health of MNFurs as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Voting in Board elections is one of the most impactful ways members can shape the future of our organization, and we strongly encourage all eligible members to be informed voters.
Being informed doesn’t mean agreeing with every candidate, but it does mean taking the time to understand who they are, what they stand for, and how they envision serving the community.
Use the Candidate Biographies
Each candidate is asked to submit responses to a standardized set of biography questions. These responses are designed to give insight into them as a person. Reading these bios carefully is often the best first step in understanding a candidate’s perspective and approach to leadership.
Watch the Recorded Q&A Session
Minnesota Furs hosts a live Candidate Q&A session during the election cycle, which is recorded and made available to members. This session allows candidates to:
-
Elaborate on their ideas in their own words
-
Respond to shared questions in real time
-
Demonstrate how they communicate, listen, and engage
We strongly encourage voters to watch the recording, as it often provides context and nuance that written answers alone cannot.
Talk With the Candidates
Candidates are members of this community too. If you see them at events, in online spaces, or within MNFurs channels, you’re welcome to respectfully engage with them. Asking thoughtful questions and having direct conversations can help you better understand:
-
Their goals for their term
-
Their vision for the organization’s future
-
How they approach collaboration, governance, and community concerns
Open dialogue is a healthy part of a transparent and member-driven organization.
Vote With Confidence
No single resource tells the whole story. We encourage voters to consider all available information, written bios, Q&A sessions, and personal conversations, when making their decision. Every voter will weigh these factors differently, and that diversity of thought is a strength of our community. We strongly encourage people to look beyond just “knowing a name that is on the ballot”.
Thank you for taking the time to participate thoughtfully in the MNFurs elections process. Your engagement helps ensure that our Board reflects the values, needs, and future of the community it serves.
