Bear Essentials Summer Campout 18+

It’s time for the Summer 18+ Bear Essentials Camp, which means it’s time to come camping for a couple of nights at Lac qui Parle State Park! On the “Lake that Speaks,” you can find old unique stone and wood building from the WPA (Works Progress Administration) on the western edge of the lakes banks. The park features multiple hiking trails that you can take, or you can go a swim at the beach, paddle in the lake, enjoy a lake overlook off Chippewa County Road 32, and take a look at the historic Fort Renville on the other side of the lake. The park is also home to the largest cotton wood tree if you are so inclined to find it. If you like to swim they have a swimming beach available to use, there are no lifeguards on duty so make sure to be safe.

A short drive away is the Appleton offroading course that people can take their registered vehicles along the trails. If you do not have a vehicle that is allowed on the trails there will be rides given a couple of times on Saturday of the event.

Bear Essentials means you’re responsible for pioneering with your own tent, food, and chair. If you haven’t got a tent of your own, find someone who’ll share!

The campsite is semi-close to some horse day grazing, so we advise caution with wearing suits around horses – if they’re there, please stay away from them.
