MNFurs at Como Zoo’s 2014 ZooBoo – Updated

It’s almost that time of year again! Como Zoo is gearing up for their annual ZooBoo event, and so are we – this is a great opportunity for MNFurs to contribute to the community and have fun doing it!

If you’re not familiar, ZooBoo offers a way for younger children to experience Halloween by providing a safe and less scary alternative to traditional trick-or-treating. All proceeds benefit the Como Zoo and Conservatory.

Here are the dates (plan on arriving by 4pm and staying until 9pm).

Saturday, October 18
Sunday, October 19

Friday, October 24
Saturday, October 25
Sunday, October 26

For those who have participated in the past, please note that in the interest of furthering our relationship with the folks at Como, we’ll be handling the organization of the event a bit differently this year. We are handling registration for Como Zooboo and if you want to join sign up at [removed – registration is now closed]. Both fursuiters and handlers will be needed!

If you’re planning to attend or have any questions, don’t hesitate to let us know.

I hope this quotes correctly as I just see the words “QUOTE” above…anyways, Amethyst, you’ll get an orange slip in the mail that says “VOLUNTEER” and you can just drive onto the grounds.  Instructions should be provided with the materials you get in the mail, I think there are generally…2 lots set aside for volunteers, so take that orange slip and stick it on your dash after you park in the designated lot.

I received the e-mail from Como — but am wondering about parking for the orientation — should I contact Como with this questions — or does someone know the answer — will there be reserved parking near the orientation site or will we need to park and walk.

I dunno if I just picked a good day/time to do my orientation or if they arrange it this way for everybody, but when I went in for it last year, the zoo was already closed [early?], so the the main public parking right up by the visitor’s center was completely empty except for the other people there for orientation, and that’s way way preferable to the volunteer lot anyway as it’s about a 3-4 minute walk from that lot to the center.

    Thanks Pepper.

I have a bit of a problem on Saturday the 25th, Mouring was going to be my driver, but he found out that he cannot be at the event without a kid or a volunteer position and he doesn’t want to do either at this point.

He said he would take up and then do some running around, go to the Fur Meet, come back and pick me up — but I was wondering — is anyone going to the Meet after the ZooBoo. Maybe I could hitch a ride there — I live on that side of town so it’s kinda crazy for him to come all the way back to Como, turn around and go back to Chaska. He says he doesn’t mind — but I feel bad about all the gas, if there is a way that we can make this a bit more streamline.

    Thanks!

    Amethyst

I have a question for everyone attending ZooBoo this year, Has anyone gotten their parking pass yet?  I believe that by this time last year I had mine and was curious if anyone else has gotten theirs?

To my knowledge nobody has received their packets in the mail yet. Please be patient; we will follow up with Como if nothing shows up within the next few days.

If people had the same luck as myself, they should have gotten their parking passes today.

They passed out the parking passes during orientation

That could be true, but some of us don’t have to attend Orientation as we have been doing this with them for years, so they get mailed out to the rest of us who don’t need to attend orientation. 🙂   it was just odd that it was taking so long to get the parking pass this year was all and why I had asked if others had received theirs already or not. 🙂

I got the envelope in the mail yesterday.  Everyone should be getting theirs now lol.
