This is the PROLOGUE to a story by me and Ski.  To give a brief background on the story, it takes place in a zoo and throughout a specific time frame, something happens that is not ordinary.  Enjoy!

The prologue and first 2-3 chapters will be shared on MNFurs, but then the rest will be FA only.  Enjoy!

    – PROLOGUE –

In the big city of Zienith lies a location full of many starting and growing businesses. Zienith use to be a small town, but grew rapidly over the oncoming years. The population of the city is well over 350,000 and keeps growing with neighboring towns wanting in. It may not be a very cheap city to live in depending on the area’s county, but current residents live happily, whether it be families or young professionals.

One of the biggest attractions of Zienith is the River’s End Zoo. The zoo was built back in 1937 and is located by a river called Dusky Woods River. The river has many twists and turns and when at the end it drains into a small round lake. The zoo is on the outskirts of the city and that allowed much room for the zoo to expand over the years. Also surrounding it is a thick heritage of pine trees. All of the pine trees are many feet high and most of them go over the top of the zoo’s foundation. You must drive through the many thick pine trees to reach the zoo. With it being well marked it is not hard to reach.

The River’s End Zoo carries a large number of species. Each are in separate sections of the zoo, carrying reptiles, birds, fish, and mammals. The keepers are also trying to work on getting in an exotic and rare species as well. The type is unclear, but not unknown and very rare. Where they have discovered this species has been tough to export. When the keepers have wanted to bring them into the zoo, their permits have been denied for exporting. The reason being because of the current habitat versus the zoo’s habitat. It has been discovered that this exotic species lived in a much cooler climate and there is currently no environment for it to be in. One of their biggest attractions is a dolphin show and it is held in a custom-built aquarium. They have done this as a big attraction in the past and received much positive feedback.

The zoo has a big and busy staff. There are over 58 zookeepers and each of them specialize in handling specific exhibits. Depending on the species, each keeper must follow strict handling guidelines and never disobey. They have never had any bad experiences with the zookeepers and the president of the zoo wants to keep it that way. When it came to any animal needing medical care, the zoo had an in-house medical center. Sometimes they have had to bring in doctors from the outside, but not very often. This would all depend on the severity of the situation. All in all the River’s End Zoo is a prospering facility and it’s a big event for current Zienith residents and outside visitors.
