It should also be put on the event calendar (it is an official event right?)
Just to step in real quick…Pepper, this is not a MNFurs-hosted event so it will not be on the calendar.

*watches the snow gracefully flutter down* Well this isn’t going to be a bike friendly week. Can I swing a ride from anyone? If nobody else can get you let me know and I can swing by. Would probably be close to about ~3pm-4pm or sooner so I can get there for set up.*watches the snow gracefully flutter down* Well this isn’t going to be a bike friendly week. Just to step in quickly…Since there is a full restaurant next door that is also part of the same establishment, I am going to give a strong and educated assumption of no…I doubt they would like us bringing in our own food items with the restaurant and theater food/popcorn area where you buy a movie ticket.
Zen can confirm for sure though…But I thought I remember hearing that we are not allowed to when Zen and myself conversed with management.

No not being done as a pot luck. There is a menu and a wait staff will be taking orders in the theater side as well. Bringing in food would be poor form. That would be like going to Perkins and bringing pot luck items.-

Thanks that was what I was thinking since there was no mention of it on your first post. I am just used to thees parties being pot lucks that I thought I should askok This is unacceptable this event should have been on the event calendar, I really don’t go to the web site this often.ok This is unacceptable this event should have been on the event calendar, I really don’t go to the web site this often.
This was not an official event for the group. Thus was not put on the calendar.

MNFurs website supports local furry events that are MNFurs and non MNFurs events. We asked if want an event advertise for the person running the event to submit it by using the Event Submission form.
This policy was put in place to help eliminate drama in the community.

Kurst "YipYap" HyperyoteLook, people aren’t gonna know what’s going on sometimes unless it’s on THE CALENDAR. THE CALENDAR is there for a reason, to let people know when STUFFS is. Is it against the law to put it there lol? It’s just frustrating. I understand about the separation of official and non-official events…Maybe we should have…two calendars? Or just combine them already? Just because an event isn’t official…we still want as many people to come as possible to make them successful, right?Look, people aren’t gonna know what’s going on sometimes unless it’s on THE CALENDAR. Pepper, if you feel so strong about it if you really want the calendar, forums, chat, and other channels only about MNFurs event we can ;).
As was said before. the event submission form is for the announcement of non official and official events on our calendars and other channels. We have and will continue to post events that are not MNFurs when we are asked to do so. We just ask that they submit them so we can go through our process and double check everything before we spend the time to help promote the event. Each event promotion takes on average about 4 to 8 hours of time so it’s important to actually make sure it’s wanted and done as right as possible the first time.
Again I personally believe that events and happenings around the community are just as important as MNFurs sanctioned events. MNFurs doesn’t hold the rights to furry or fun – the community does.

I can understand how you feel – I don’t come to the site that often myself (aka, less often than I should) because I’m usually pretty busy and don’t have all the time to check the forums, I rely heavily on the calendar. That being said, we leave it up to the people running the events if they want to have our help advertising, which means getting it on the calendar, sending out a notice on social networks (Facebook, twitter, etc), and so forth. All the event runner has to do is submit it so that can happen, which is what we look for.

Just like what Kurst said here – the calendar isn’t just for official events. We’re happy to put unofficial events on the calendar and such! As long as the event runner(s) submit it through the form, we can and gladly will help out with advertising and getting it on the calendar. But we need that event submission to get it done, and it helps ensure we have accurate information to put down (such as times and dates), a correct description, and that it’s what the event runner wants and not what it’s thought they want.
Kurst hit the nail on the head – we don’t hold the reins on furry or fun, we just donate our time and efforts to help spread the word IF the event runner(s) want us to.
