Hello everyone!
Awhile ago (Feb 2024) we made the announcement that we would be making changes to MNFurs.org and enabling Discord & Website linking. We were operating on Furry Standard Time and finally got around to implementing that. Needless to say, we entirely missed the whole timeline estimate on the original post because we were more optimistic on things.
This post will outline the changes and what our members need to do to continue using our Discord Server, starting September 15th 2025.
Why again for this change?
Our discord server is very populated, and as such, attracts a lot of attention from spammers, scammers and other bad actors. We’ve attempted to mitigate this by requiring phone verification on the server, but this hasn’t helped. We also have needed to remove people from the server that have acted against the best interest of our members, which has resulted in a ban, however most of the time, people go lengths to evade bans.
What is changing?
Soon, we will be limiting the MNFurs Discord server and requiring people to link their Discord account with MNFurs.org to continue getting full use of the server. We will be rolling this change out soon, but the system is ready now to start linking accounts.
When you login to MNFurs.org and establish your membership with us, you also have the ability to link your Discord account via our website connector. This connector is maintained in-house to ensure nobody’s data is used for unknown purposes. This linking is only used to associate your account on our discord server, with your account on this website.
When you link your account, you will be given a new “Member” role on the discord. If you signed up and linked, and you still don’t have the role, please go here and refresh your discord roles.
Whats the timeline look like?
Shortly after Furry Migration 2025 (September 15th, 2025), we will be be requiring members to link their accounts. This is three months from the date of this post and is when we’ll be enforcing the account linking.
How do I do this?
- Once logged in via your mnfurs.org account, Click on your user portrait in the top right and click “Your membership” (Screenshot).
- Scroll down to “My Memberships”
- Select the “Membership” tier (Free, and always will be free).
- Ensure you’ve verified your email
- From within “My Memberships” Go to “Edit Profile” and link your discord account. (Screenshot)
What if I don’t want to link my account?
To get full use of the discord server, this will be required. However, there’ll still be limited text-channels available for those that don’t want to link, and existing users who have linked their accounts can elect to opt-in to see limited channels. Just keep in mind by using the limited channels, the public (bots, etc) can see you and direct message you.
