Tell us about yourself
My name is Aubrey jade, (She/her), I have been around the furry scene for roughly 13 years, starting back when as a kid, I was really into the Lion king movies. While being in the furry community for 13 years, I have only ever been to 3 cons, Anthrocon 2024, Anime Detour 2025, and Furry Migration 2025, which FM25, was the first time I have ever staffed a con. I grew up around New York for most of my life, just recently moved out here to Minnesota a little over a year ago, where I’ve gotten a lot more into the local furry community. Ever since finding this community I have been helping out anywhere I could, which led me to becoming a department head for Furry Migration 2025, and recently the new MNFurs Events Team Lead.
What brought you into the furry fandom?
When I first joined the fandom many years ago, what really caught my attention was the amazing art, the creativity, and the sense of community. The idea of cosplaying my own character was especially exciting. But what truly kept me involved were the like‑minded people who share similar interests and make the fandom such a supportive and welcoming space.
How will you continue to volunteer in the community after being elected to the board?
My goal if elected to the board will be, first and foremost, keeping the organization going strong and making sure the community can enjoy events while staying within nonprofit guidelines. No matter what, I’ll continue the work I’ve been doing with both Furry Migration and MNFurs, supporting events and the people who make them possible.
How do you view events like Furry Migration and Midwinter Frolic impacting the Minnesota Furs community today and tomorrow?
I think events like these are not only amazing experiences, but they’re what define us as a group. They show who we are, the creativity we bring, and what we can accomplish together. These events help keep the community strong and continue to inspire more people to get involved in the future.
What strengths will you bring to the board?
I bring a strong passion for the community and a commitment to helping it grow in positive ways. I’m organized, easy to work with, and always try to approach things with an open mind. I really enjoy bringing people together, finding solutions, and making sure everyone feels included and heard. I want to use those strengths to help the board make thoughtful decisions and keep the community moving forward.
What do you feel are areas where you want to further develop yourself? Why?
Something I’d like to keep improving on is my leadership and communication skills. I always try to listen, learn, and grow from the people I work with, and I know there’s always room to get better at bringing people together. I want to keep learning how to make sure everyone feels supported and heard.
How can Minnesota Furs reach out to other communities local and national in furry and other fandoms?
I think a great way to reach out is by building more connections with other groups both locally and outside Minnesota. We can do this by supporting other events, teaming up for shared projects, and showing that our community is welcoming to everyone. Working together and sharing ideas would help all of us grow and create stronger bonds across different fandoms.
What are two things you would like to see accomplished or improved during your tenure?
I’d really like to see more open communication between the board and the community, so everyone knows what’s going on and feels like their voice matters. I’d also love to help make more fun and meaningful events happen, where people can meet, create, and feel connected no matter how long they’ve been part of the fandom.
