    Short Version

The forums had some bugs and features that effected how it displays posts.  Sometimes it would show things like <span style=”color: #cc99ff; background-color: #993300;”>color</span> instead of color.  This and other bugs have been fixed.

    Long Version

    Good evening.

While looking at some posts I realize that some of the posts is munged.  Showing HTML in their.  I know BIG observation here.

Since I didn’t get any reports on any problems I didn’t think much then later I saw it again.  I then figured out when and where the scenario hit so I could reproduce and boom another thing fix.

For the more technical minded people the engine that allows what and how html was escaping out too many common html commands (including span) and in some cases the browser and editor would create unexpected code.  This is a bad thing and that caused things like the quote not working all the time, missing colors, or just some goofiness I never expected.

While everyone else is at the meet I uploaded some features, made changes, and a few tweaks here and there.  I also updated some of the posts with bad formatting to have the correct html.

As always if you find any issues with the site you can post in the forums, use the contact form or contact me directly.

Something that just happened I noticed, involving the unread topics list.  I had 16 unread topics and the tool rolls over into new pages every 15, but when clicking on the “next page” it brought me to the following url: https://www.mnfurs.org/page/2/

Before I go any further I don’t know if that was the url actually being used on the “next” link or if there was a redirect somewhere and I just happened to finish there.  I already know I was clicking various topics into new tabs and I know that doing such will mark it read and thus remove it from unread list.  (for those not knowing yote or twist speak.. by the time I clicked Page 2, there technically wasn’t a page 2 to visit).

So I don’t know if this is a case of discreetly working as intended, or indeed a bug.  I just refreshed my unread list and it presented 13 (that was the correct count intended) unread topics and thus no need for a page-2.

Bug and working as intended.  The working as intended is that since you are using the back and forward features of the browser it doesn’t refresh the page the number 2 page doesn’t exist and well doesn’t bring back results.

But there is a bug….  There is a condition where it gets “lost” sometimes and you hit that with the URLs.  I figured out a way to reproduce it and have a fix up now since well not too harmful of code branch to change 🙂

So it should work differently now 🙂  And differently is what I mean 🙂
