Hello MNFurs community!
The board has recently formed a sub-committee for researching new meet locations. This is being lead by myself and Yarrick.
With the recent re-modeling of Perkins, there have been discussions set in motion to start researching new bi-weekly meet locations. For those that have seen how the back area of Perkins is now setup, it’s a bit more condensed shall we say…We can still fit everyone back there, but now it’s time to move forward. Below is information on what we are researching during this process…
LOCATION: We are trying to keep it more centralized so within the 494/694 loop (IE Eagan, Maple Wood, Bloomington, etc).
BACK AREA/PARTY ROOM: Finding a place with adequate space to house our community members
POWER: Like to make sure that there is power outlets as some of us bring laptops and other electronic devices. Obviously most places do, but it’s a main item to examine
CUSTOMER SPACE: Making sure that if we find a place that may work, can the restaurant accommodate us. Preferably something that can hold between 50-75.
RESTAURANT HOURS: A 24-hour restaurant would be nice, but we are NOT having that as a sole requirement. Some members do wander elsewhere (ex. Caribou hangout and/or AppleBee’s)
TIME FRAME: Making sure that management is okay with when we arrive and how late we stay. Some members stay ’till the waking hours of morning
PARKING: With member attendance with these meets, making sure there is adequate parking spaces
With everything said above, if you the community have ideas, please post them here in our continuing research. Please feel free to ask your questions here as well (PM’s and e-mails are fine too).

Also the venue/room must be able to seat 50-75 people comfortably. Sadly this knocks a lot of places out of the running… but it is perhaps the most major consideration and main reason we are doing research on alternate venues.-- MNFurs Photography Head--

Included are topics such as Type of food, average cost, etc. For anyone that comes across something as a potential venue, please feel free to print a copy of this to take with you. UPDATE:Here is the latest update on our research. We have a Perkins location we are going to try as a test run in Golden Valley.
We are going to treat it as an event and will soon be on the front page and MNFurs calendar.
We will try to get this going ASAP as a possible alternate location.
