So.. I think a lot of furs have no idea how this election is run. Can someone please explain how people were nominated.. (were they all current board members?), when and where the vote is, and who gets to vote?

And any other useful information. Thank you!

We announced the election back in November. That post can be found here. Here is a few bits of information from that post:

it means you as a volunteer with enough hours can help elect the candidates you want to the board, or if you also desire, you can even run for the board yourself. To do so for either aspect requires 20 confirmed hours of volunteering. If you aren’t sure if you have them, you can check the website under your account, or contact the Volunteers Department via email or at an event. If you don’t have them, then keep an eye out for upcoming events to volunteer at and earn those hours!

Our next election reminder was at the beginning of February. That post can be found here. In that post, the election committee clarified the nomination process for board candidates.

Nominate yourself or others up until February 17th. Each candidate must have 20 volunteer hours for the organization, be in good standing, and accept a third party nomination (when applicable).

For nominating or for questions, email the Elections Committee at [email protected].

They also posted the timeline for the election in that post including the dates and times of when voting occurs.

February 18th – Candidate Nominations Close

February 19th – Candidate Announcement & Forums Open
February 27th – Posting of Candidate Questionnaire
March 1st – Deadline to submit Volunteer Hours. Hours Include duties performed for Furry Migration & MNFurs. Volunteer hours must be submitted in order to be eligible to vote.
March 4th – Discussion at Northeast Library 1:30-4:00PM
March 5th – Absentee voting begins
March 19th – Absentee voting Ends, Non-absentee voting begins after Furry Migration Open ConCom @ Geek Partnership Society
    March 26th – Final Voting, and Ballot Tally @ 8:00PM & Post-Election Results @ The Oval

Two weeks ago, the election committee announced the four candidates running to fill the three open seats. There is one board member running for reelection, one interim board member running for election for the first time, and two members of our community also running. That announcement can be found here.

The nominations for the Minnesota Furs 2017 election have closed! The following candidates have accepted their nomination (listed in alphabetical order):

    Aerak

    Deirdre

    Flyingfire

    Kiguel
