I just wanted to say that I enjoyed meeting everyone at the picnic, to start off.
While I was there I was surprised by the amount of people who also do crafting. There were several people who had an interest in chainmailing, leatherworking, and all sorts of crafts — not just fursuit building (although I consider this an awesome type of craft as well).
So, I thought it might be nifty for crafty furs to have their own group. I know that MNFurs already has a art group but I think this group could be focused differently. I also think it’d be fun to arrange meet ups and crafting sessions (furs could just bring whatever they were working on to the meetup and hang out while working on it. It would be interesting to kind of take a poll on what kind of crafting furs do, as well.
I personally do jewlery-making, taxidermy, leatherwork, and I dabble in fursuit building (made my own) and sculpture.
I’d love to hear from everyone~
I would love to be in on this. Would this be an at a persons home thing, if so that could be entresting as well.I’m looking at starting some costumes this summer from Pepakura and Cardboard cutting, so itd be cool to have meet ups to talk while folding…all of the folding @.@Wut o.o

I would love to attend a session like this, I desperately need some advice on making my fursuit. (it’s pretty complicated for me)If crocheting counts as a craft I do that. :3I’m also very interested in learning how to sew and expanding that into making fursuits and fursuit accessories. 🙂

Crocheting is totally a craft!!
I don’t know how to go about getting a venue or whatever for this because I definitely can’t have it at my house. But I think it’d be hella fun just to hang out or maybe even collaborate!
It is not MNFurs related, but GPS has a “Crafty Geek” group.http://geekpartnership.org/clubs/crafty-geek/

They tend to do weekly projects at GPS on Thursday nights. As for location GPS is a decent location, but there is a fee. The MNFurs board may be able to work on arrangements for lower rates (non-profit rates) under the MNFurs name, but I suspect it would be good if people could chip in a buck or two to cover the room cost.
I would enjoy hosting a crafting get together, would be interesting to do a rotating meet point thing, some people are shot to have tools or other things that could be useful, and to save cash on food a pot luck sort of thing would help. -
