Explanation posted by Anime Detour via Facebook and their website:
Many of you had noticed that earlier in the week we made a post banning Go-Pros from the convention. This is an update on that policy.
While Go-Pros and other continuous capture devices are allowed, we discourage the use of that feature as it is prohibited by Doubletree and Hilton policy to photograph and record their staff.
We have had a long standing policy of if you come to the convention you consent to be photographed or filmed, however the staff of the hotel are not convention attendees, they are simply people doing their jobs, out of respect for that we strongly discourage the use of continuous recording on any device.

Hello Anime Detour Attendees,
This is just an update on the policy on permitted items within the Hotel and Convention spaces. As many of you know E-Cigs are only permitted within the Tent we provide for smoking space in the East Courtyard. In addition to E-Cigs, several items have been added to the Prohibited Items list this year. Those items are:
- GoPro Cameras
- Drones
- HoverBoard / 2 Wheel Balance Boards
- In-Line Skate Shoes
Thank you for your time,
Anime Detour Hotel DepartmentBeing a photographer, I’ve already contacted them asking why the ban on Go Pro cameras. If I hear back I’ll update everyone here.

The other ones I can understand but would love to hear the reasoning on the GoProavatar done by Rebel
Update with Anime Detour’s initial response to me in a Facebook private message:“We already posted saying we will be clarifying on this at some point later today. I am just the messenger and am working on getting as much additional info as I can.”
So hopefully we’ll hear back soon

Odd that they would ban GoPros but not selfie sticks?I wonder if the GoPro ban is caused by something else or confusion that it’s drones. The only thing I can think of is people leaving GoPro like devices in places they shouldn’t.Then again GoPro is a product name if this was any other con people would just buy another one and say “It’s not banned because it’s not a GoPro”.
