I want to go to some furry events in style but I don’t want to spend my car money on a fandom I just joined and I’m also broke at the moment. Other than collars (nothing against people that wear them) I’m open for any fashion ideas a college student can afford. Thanks! The cheapest things that kinda sorta qualify as furry, if I remember right, are:
- Ears
- Tails
- Kigurumis (costume onesies)
Otherwise you can grab furry tee shirts and, if you’re willing to invest a bit more, maybe look into getting some things commissioned like a custom hoodie.
I’ve seen some people wearing small tails, maybe a foot long, some places. I’d imagine those can’t be too expensive."The problem is not that there are too many idiots in the world, the problem is the distribution of lightning."
- Mark TwainThere are also a lot of furry clothing companies out there that you can get some awesome stuff for cheap. Check out Hyena Agenda and Nomad Complex (NC is especially great because they have bandannas with many different species faces on them, which are super awesome). There are lots of other artists that sell clothing too, just gotta do a little digging. And if you want something specific I’m sure there are a few locals who’d be willing to help out."The problem is not that there are too many idiots in the world, the problem is the distribution of lightning."
- Mark TwainWell you could always get some cheap fur (from Joanna’s and michaels) and maybe sew a small tail“ everything that is beautiful people want to break, and you are beautiful I’m afraid “ - Nicole dollaganger
Honestly I wouldn’t bother with that fur. Unless you get the real junky stuff it’s still around $25 a yard. Better off going with an online source with a much larger selection at that point.Speaking of which, I need to go through my swatches for a puppet I’m making one of these days.

This may not be a bad idea. You do want to watch out when buying from them – most of the fur they sell is horrible quality – however once in awhile you can find some really good stuff. If you go with this option, make sure to note the fur thickness and also give it a tug. If the fur comes out easily or there isn’t much of it, don’t buy it.
But yeah. One yard of fur plus needle and thread = a very inexpensive tail.
