Hello, my name is currently Snowjay.

I discovered MNFurs via advertisement about FurryMigration at Convergence, 2015. I saved the pamphlet but didn’t become a participant with anything at the time. Then late January or early Feburary of 2016, I registered on the website (according to my profile history). I’ve had the website saved on my quick links bar for the whole time but haven’t been much of a lurker. I’ve been too shy to try and reach out to a new group. I’m trying to be ready to change that.

I haven’t developed a fursona. I know, ever since I discovered the snow leopard, that it would be my fursona, and it fit me very well. I don’t have a name for my fursona though, or an outfit, or even artwork. I spent hours (and I mean 4+) just deciding that “Snowjay” was an acceptable name for myself for the time being. I want a fursona name, but I feel weird using a different name because I’m very happy with my real name. I also want a degree of privacy by using an alias because of the huge stigma against Furs.

So, as an introduction, “Hello, I am a snow leopard trying to discover his name”.

I know the Fandom is very friendly. I’ve been a quiet observer for long enough. I have friends who know or figured it out and have been nice about it. I’m primarily just shy about “now that I’m an adult, how do I go about making new friends?” kind of feeling. I don’t do very good at approaching any new group unless somebody drags me over first.

I’m making an effort here to take the first steps on my own. I don’t know anyone already in MNFurs to help guide me in.

I know how that goes I’m in the same boat. But going to the con last weekend helped me get out of my shell. I’ve been a quiet lurker here too for a while but I’m pushing myself to try and talk to a lot more people about things. I would suggest going to the picnic I’m sure one of the staff members will notice you and help you out if you seem lost. Or if you would want a smaller intro to the madness the Bi-weekly meets are nice. (From what I heard. Haven’t gone yet) You just have to be comfortable enough to throw yourself out there every once in awhile. Easiest way to make friends now that you’re an adult.
