Hey I need some advice what do I do if I’m trying to get a hold of an artist to use her work as my fursona but haven’t been able to contact them for a month and they haven’t been active for almost a yr and the art is almost 4 yrs oldjust do it (add meme ) and if thay ask you to stop then stop. if thay haven’t been on 4 a year that cant care that much.
NopeÂ
OK I’ve tried to get artist to make me break down art for the art N everyone is calling me a theif N won’t do itAs long as your credit the artist it should be fine. I see people do this all over the internet and I never see much of a stink raised about it."The problem is not that there are too many idiots in the world, the problem is the distribution of lightning."
- Mark TwainIf the image isn’t water-marked then its really hard to enforce a copyright issue. Like Snow mentioned; make sure to credit the artist and if they have a problem they’ll contact you. Don’t let trolls scare you. The only way I could see them having a real issue with it would be if you were blatantly trying to use the image for profit, I guess…:: nods ::
Hope that’s helpful.
Kind of hard to tell what you’re asking. Did you want to use someone’s art as a fursona? Did you pay for the art/was it a gift? Or is it just something you found on google?I wouldn’t recommend it if you haven’t been able to contact them. The work is probably of someone elses existing character– its not really cool to use art that isn’t yours in the fandom. People pay money for the art and lots of people see it as ‘stealing’.
I tend to agree with Soupy.A lot of people do it, its true, but if you didn’t buy the art or the art wasn’t put up as a free-to-use thing, it was probably bought by someone of their existing character, or is of the artist’s own character.
People get very attached to their characters and fursonas, using their character as your own isn’t cool.
Agreeing with Soupy and Bluefire. As an artist, all of my stuff is done as gifts for other people, commissions, and art of my own character. If I found out someone was using my character as their own, there would be heck to pay. As for the other stuff, gifts were things I took time out of my day to do for someone else and it would be rude to take that gift away so to speak. And commissions, they paid for them. They gave me their hard earned money to do these images and it would be rude (I feel, all opinions man) to just saunter in and use it.
Just my thoughts. Luckily it hasn’t happened yet.
Allow me to clarify my statement then. Most of the art I see where this is done isn’t a recognizable character. Usually the art is described along the lines of “here’s a random fox.”This is something that used to bug me greatly when I was younger, but I was neither the person doing it, the person who owned the character, nor the person who made the art so I kept the ire to myself. Now a days I see it everywhere but I’m not led into thinking the person who posts the avatar actually owns that art. There are only so many foxes drawn by Taurin or Teagan/Kenket, far fewer than I’ve seen in the wild. If someone uses 200×200 pixels for an avatar it doesn’t bug me anymore. If someone outright claims art belongs to them or is trying to profit from it, then I might go in search of the artist to assure they’re aware of it, but no more than that.

- Mark TwainThank you, Snow.I feel you clarified my statement better than I could. ^v^
