New to the whole furry thing, and trying to create my own fursuit head. Pretty excited about it, because I am fairly crafty and I’ve really been needing a new hobby for a while. I’ve found lots of good places online to buy materials – but I’d love to find a local place where I can look at and feel the fur before buying since I am really picky. Does anyone know a local shop that sells good quality fur?First off, welcome to the fandom! 😀
I don’t live near Minneapolis, so I cannot recommend stores…
I can tell you, however, that a lot of online fabric retailers can send you swatches of fur for free or for a small charge. :>Try here SR Harris fabric in Brooklyn Park (http://www.srharrisfabric.com/) this is where I got my fur for Norm. They have about a row of fur, but sadly most of it is short pile.I used
the whole page
for this!

This! While you can find fur locally, also check out something like http://www.distinctivefabric.com/fabric.php?product=SLDLGHRFUR1 or http://www.crscraft.com/products/vProduct2.asp?pid=Fur&L1=2&L2=13&L3=0&L4=0&V2=1&V3=0&V4=0&cat=bear+supplies&sub=Fabrics&class=
Both places will provide samples as well. I found the DF stuff in particular to be really, really nice if you can find the color(s) you want.
