Is co-op fursuit making a thing? Like I don’t have a sewing machine or sewing skills, but I want to learn. Is there like a co-op of makers that would be willing to teach out and help craft suits?

there isn’t an organized group of folks who get together to work on items.   I make fursuits for a living and taking on someone like you on an intern basis may be helpful for myself or others.   It would take you a long time to learn how to make things but I wouldn’t expect anyone to make a suit for you on their own time for free.

Oh I hope that asking for a free suit wasn’t how it came across. I’ve been genuinely interested in learning sewing and suit crafting. I figure that way if something rips/needs adjusting I’d be able to fix it, rather than relying on others.

An internship could be an interesting arrangement!

I have seen some markers post internships for fursuit making online. An excellent place to start learning fursuit making skills is the work in progress chat on telegram; here is the link. https://t.me/WIPzone

Here is a link to another smaller fursuit making chat I find helpful as well https://t.me/FursuitFanatics

If you are interested in prop creation, there are businesses that specialize in that that might be helpful to learn professional skills. The fursuit maker matrices run the chat, and she has some fantastic online fursuit-making guides. https://www.matrices.net/tutorials.htm

I hope this helps, I make fursuits as well, feel free to ask me any questions.
