Since the last open forum meeting the community and the board have been busy. A lot has been accomplished, so it’s time for another meeting to get feedback on the progress and hear concerns you all might be having!

At the bi-weekly furmeet on March 2nd at Perkins there will be another open forum meeting starting at 6:30pm in the evening.  Topics held during the open forum will include upcoming events such as the convention and picnics, progress made on volunteer hours and volunteering, some changes to our operational structure, and most importantly an open period for the community to voice any concerns and issues to be redressed.  We are encouraging everyone able to come and catch up on the latest developments and be heard.

We’re eager to hear your thoughts and share with you on all the recent developments, and hope to see you there!  If you have any additional questions or concerns replies can be sent to [email protected] or in the MNFurs forums.

I’m going to reiterate a reply I made on Facebook post with a slight twist. I’m not an elected person to the board.  As con chair I am an Officer on the board.  While I need to maintain an air of tactfulness, and respect I believe the other directors have an even greater responsibility towards this. We all work together to make this a better community. And none of us are looking to alienate anyone. However…….

At this open forum in addition to everything else we, as a group, need to sit down and have a talk about how Minnesota Furs relates to the greater geek community in general. There has been some rumors and ideas floating around in the ether that needs to be quashed RIGHT NOW.

No more whispers, no more well it looks like they are…..Dirty laundry needs to be aired on March 2nd because I like the smell of Spring Fresh fabric softener. And if you think people are going to take things personally, I need to be blunt. We are adults. Treat us as such and you will find short of personal attacks we LISTEN and try and understand your point of view.

What does this all mean? It means that if you have issues….Show up. If the board doesn’t hear from you then we have nothing to address. Its as simple as that.
Some on the board may think this post is going a little too far. But you guys know me. I like having all the cards on the table. And I don’t like playing games. I also think people in the community like these attributes as well.

So I’m going to say this outright: There is a certain percentage of people complaining behind the scenes without coming out and telling us what your problem is. Do you folks realize from a board perspective how unbelievably frustrating this is? I mean all the little whispers that well the community thinks….without anyone but a single person saying so. If there really is an outcry then we need to hear about it. I want. No….WE NEED to see 2, 5, 10 people nodding their head, and speaking out when a topic is raised during these open meetings so we know that damn, this really is an issue with the community.

You guys need to understand I’m not trying to come off as pissy, but we need to build open lines of communication with the community in general. Not just a handful of people. And its even more important that those with issues really do speak up.

I hope to see you all at the open forums and at Perkins. =)

*sighs*  My Grandmother died last night, peacefully thankfully, and I NEED to go down to Wilbert  Ceylon, MN for the service at 1:30PM that is a 3 hour drive from Perkins.  But I also NEED to be at this meeting.  Anyone have a spare Tardus? Confused

Its pretty much a dead simple app that I can setup by Friday   I’ve been crunching some numbers.  It takes 2.5-3 hours to drive from south MN to Perkins.  So I should be able to handle it with time to spare.  Do we have an actual account to sign into?  If not then I can easily set this up, and have someone else run it onsite.
