Hey all!
Those of you who were at the picnic and got to hear the announcement; there is exciting news that we are going to have a lot of events going on throughout this spring and summer and beyond! To start us going strong after our Spring Picnic in two weeks MNFurs is hosting an Outdoor Fursuit Photo shoot!
So what is this Photo Safari? And what are we looking for/ who should come?
–Fursuiters! Yes that’s right we wouldn’t have much of a photoshoot without some subjects, right?
–Handlers These are non-suiters non photographers that want to come and help out. They would be assistants for both the photographers for directing suiters when asked and carrying/providing water and making sure our costumed performers stay hydrated and in good health.
–Photographers It wouldn’t be a photo shoot without people behind the camera, right? All levels of experience and gear are welcome. It would also be nice to have some opportunity to talk techniques and help each other out, even for those who may be just simply curious about getting into Fursuit photography. Also, following the shoot there will be a Filming session for some scenes of the next Furry Migration Con Promo Video I’ve had a lot of people ask me about this and when we would be shooting next; and we will have an opportunity for an open casting call for these scenes at the photo shoot. Once I have the final script in hand (will be finalized in a few days) I will be posting how many scenes we will be shooting here and what we are looking for in a reply below 🙂
So a few notes for those interested in attending:
-Those Photographers who are willing to sign off on a waiver form at the event become eligable for two things: Volunteer Hours Credit for helping out/providing us content and will get their photos posted on the MNFurs Main Photo Gallery I will have these forums at the event and will go over our new photography policy and how people can gain volunteer hours at future events by helping with photography!
-We will be meeting at the back row of the rear parking lot up by the community center building. Follow the road that leads into the Park to the very end, it dead ends into that parking lot.
-This park has a central building with outdoor acessable bathrooms. The building itself nay be rented but there are public restrooms available on the outside.
-If the building is not rented we may be able to use it as a space to cool off as needed – I’ll know closer to the event. Have the contingency plan to change in the bathrooms or vehicles if the building does become rented.
-After the shoot is over I’ll suggest going out for dinner. There are several places nearby on Robert Street that we could gather at depending on how people feel.
-To find out the details of when the Photoshoot is going to take place and the where (including a map!) See the Event Page

There’s a map/address here: https://www.mnfurs.org/MNFurs_Talk/mnfurs/mnfurs-presents-fursuit-photography-safari/
Looks like you’ll want to drive in on Stassen Ln, from the north side.
Yeah. Stassen Lane dead ends in the parking lot we will be meeting in. The second lot not the first (which is around the other side of a big hill. The park is marked as being on Butler ave (the physical street address points there) but it’s really on Stassen Lane.
Try this address if you need for a GPS: 1200 Stassen Ln West St Paul, MN 55118. The park Pavillion has a separate address then the park itself. This will point you there.
