I’m in the same boat as you. I am going to be graduating in late may, and am looking to find a place that is a lot closer to the twin cities. Its really starting to get old living in a small farm town.

I agree that finding a place is hard.  Some rental companies won’t even take renters who are not ALL making at least 3 times the monthly rent in income.  Each person.  Yea.  Ridiculous since my parents wouldn’t even be able to make that happen.  Anyway, sometimes finding a place, especially your first place, is more about price than value simply because of income which can suck.  But think of it more like a stepping stone or learning experience.

Another thing: Roommates are both good and bad.

Good:  They help pay for rent, you are never lonely, you can pawn off some of the chores to them.

Bad:  They can whine too much, choose not to do those chores, or worse yet, foot you with all of the rent.

Neutral:  They might not be furry 🙁

Regardless of your situation, if you are living with roommates, it’s best to take a day or two to set up Roommate Guidelines with you and your roommates.  That way, each of you knows what the expectations are so if one or both of you breaks the guidelines, then you can have a roommate meeting to talk about it.  The best part about these guidelines is, if all of you agree that they should change, then they can change because you are the ones that created it.

    That’s my 2 cents anyway.

well id sooner take a roomie over barely being able to afford rent on my own and being i dont have much money to start what other choice would i have other than living under a bridge for a few months?

((ive sadly done that, after high school had no choice with both parents having had died in the military, mom a marine dad was army and both deaths were 7 years apart))

what happened in the past will stay there so no worries, i just have no true ability to afford a place on my own with one job ill gladly help out with any kind of errand you give me if anyone could offer a spot on the floor if thats all you had you know? just someone let me know if its possible, ill walk to minnesota if i truly have no other choice.
