– HEY THERE! –
Hey there, your friendly Events fox once again with another discussion thread. Earlier in the week I attended one of the Suit Up Saturday department meetings and a camping event was brought up…Combination of an MNFurs/SuS event. As the discussions went on it was mentioned that there is a big section of land that can be rented out. It has many acres of roaming space and I believe there is a big barn there with a stage and working restrooms (someone from SuS can post and update here too). With this people will be able to camp as well as fursuit, utilize the barn, etc…Events around Duluth can be planned too. SuS has connections with some bar/saloon/club venues in Duluth so they will plan their own event there for the evening hours (will more than likely be 21+ only as well).
For activities there is nothing set in stone, but people can bring yard games, frisbee, etc…
There will be a high cost for this and it was estimated that attendees will be charged to attend…The reasoning for this is to help cover the cost of the rental fees attached to this section of land. The costs are unknown for now since this is in the brainstorming phases and nothing is being set in motion yet.
For date/time this will be something over a weekend as this will make it more easier for people to plan…There was discussions about starting it the middle to end of the week, but that still is in need of further discussion.
For traveling, this is where car pooling is your best friend. If we get a lot of interest then I would suggest finding your fuzzy buddies to car pool with.
In conclusion, this is a high-tier event and am simply seeing if there is interest for this. Nothing is set in stone right now.
Thank you!

Rachel from Suit UP Saturday here!As far as cost, tickets would have to be a minimum of $50 for the weekend, or $30 for just saturday. We also need a minimum of 150 people to make it happen.
As far as amenities:
We are considering having a higher priced ticket available that includes meals. There IS power, showers and portapotties on site, as well as a sink for getting water/doing dishes, firewood (for sale) and garbage disposal. We also have a ‘group’ bonfire, and you are welcome to make your own.
The drive is about 2 hours north of the cities. We need enough people to express interest to maoe this happen, thank you!
We have a lot of folks into camping… I just don’t know if we have 150 attendees worth of interest right off the bat. That’s a tall order. Certainly, people travel far and wide for the MNFurs picnics which get that sort of attendance, but those have been going on for ten years, starting off with 30 people and growing organically over time. When we started up Furry Migration we reached out to all of the geek communities in the area and rallied support, both for staffing and attendees. I know SuS has a lot of connections. Perhaps try a marketing campaign to the Duluth area and get as much support from the Iron Range communities as possible.
Without any other events in the area it’s going to be harder to kickstart this (term intended). People have done camping base events local and in other areas of the country and the 150 is a harder bar to get passed. This is something to get interest first and/or other events before committing to something that has that cost.Member of Minnesota Furs a 501c3 Non Profit, former Convention Chairman for Furry Migration, volunteer, and always doings lots of other stuff.
Feel free to ask questions because I'm here for you!
Kurst "YipYap" HyperyoteIf no one has money, there is Park point. Were its open to the public and there is a building for party/whatever. But idk how much that cost at all. But swimming is available. (just another option)SpidyTheWolfy

This is why I created this thread simply for interest and input from community members…Granted I put some details in there to make it sound big, but was just simply painting a scenario with my magic brush (=p). The next time I happen to be in the Duluth area I want to try something much smaller to see how it goes.

At some point I want to make a trip to Duluth over a weekend (probably camping with my bf). When this does happen (no date or time frame) then I want to try to plan a smaller get together with the furs in and around Duluth. This is a way to test the waters with having an event in the area and will set the status bar for any future events.
