– Park Question –

– HELLO EVERYONE –

 

So…I have a question and I decided to post in this sub-forum as this could turn into a discussion.  I am looking at Loring Park in Minneapolis off Hennepin Ave and close to MCTC.  This is part of an end-of-month fursuit romp that I am planning.

Does anyone know if there is good public parking around Loring Park?  When I called the park, I was told either at the parking garage at the college or in a public parking garage two blocks from the park near Nicollet Ave.

Can someone help me with this as I am not familiar with this area?  Figured I would ask here first before scouting things out in person at and/or around that area.  🙂

There is 2 hour street parking along W 15th Street and Willow Street. The times are Monday-Friday 9 AM-4 PM so there shouldn’t be a problem with an evening or weekend event.

I know this area well Drake and can point out all the “spots” that may be useful.  Did you want to meet up Friday, Saturday or Sunday for quick drive down there so I can show.  Be aware that weekends at Loring can be a zoo if the weather is nice,so parking can still get tough.  Also,  fur suits are seriously not recommended as this is a very urban/high profile park.  Ears and tails should still be fine.  I’m working with nearby Loring Greenway for Migration for outdoor event during convention and we have been reminded of this fact and need prior declaration/reservation to use this area.

I was just up there this weekend, I was staying at the Hyatt (yay furry migration!) for a state DECA comp. and ended up walking over to the park. It was very busy since it was nice out, and pretty muddy too. Just an FYI, you’ll hafta check to make sure the park isn’t soaked.

A brief reminder, in case you missed this, but Loring is host to Pride in June.  GPS has a booth there and MNfurs have been allowed space there in past 3 years.  GPS and partners of ATC (anime twin cities, parent NP of Anime Detour) and AnimeFusion are seriously considering adding an entry to parade this year.   If you really want to do fur suits in Loring this may be best time as our costumes are tame compared to some other outfits that weekend 🙂 .  Talk to Board/GPS liaison for specific implementation details.
