    Hey there all 🙂

I was just wondering if there were any other members here who enjoyed retro gaming and collecting for retro systems?

I’m a huge fan of all the Nintendo handhelds (thus the avatar picture taken with a Game Boy Camera lol) but I also collect for the NES, Sega Genesis, PS1, and GameCube. How about you guys and gals? If there are any other retro gaming fans here, what systems do you collect for or just enjoy playing the most?

Oof. I miss my N64… And my NES. My boyfriend still has his SNES so I’m happy. And since my GameCube met its unfortunate end long ago, I use my old Wii to play those games.

You sure do dabble! 😀 It’s pretty rare to run across someone in these parts with an Intellivision, Light Sixer, 5200, Jaguar, or 3DO; let alone all of them together! Beautiful console collection! Are there any of them you’re particularly passionate about, or do you just collect and play whatever you happen to run across?

Those are all great systems, and at least you still have a way to enjoy SNES and GameCube games. I grew up with a Genesis so I never got to experience the SNES back in it’s heyday, but I’ve definitely developed an appreciation for it from gaming nights with a friend I had a while back who collected for it avidly.

Since Cyrus shared a pic of his collection, I’ll toss in one of my gaming center. And a peek at some of my handheld libraries:

If you want to see more you can check out my collection thread on AtariAge.com, since I don’t want to pic spam this thread here. 🙂

What’s a Light Sixer? I haven’t heard that nickname before.

Well I did have a lot of exposure to all things Nintendo as a kid, especially SNES and GBC, so those hold some nostalgic value to me. The rest are a mixed batch of collecting for value or collecting because they simply looked “cool.”

The ironic thing is that I’m primarily a PC gamer.

Oh, I was just talking about your 6 switch model Atari 2600. That particular version of the Atari 2600 that you have is often referred to as the “Light Sixer” by Atari collectors, since it was the second version of the 6 switch model and lighter in weight than the original “Heavy Sixer”. The easiest way to tell the difference between the two is by the black bezel on the front of the woodgrain panel. On the Light Sixer it’s got a sharp angular taper, whereas on the Heavy Sixer it’s more gradually curved. 🙂

And cool! My favorite system in terms of nostalgic value has got to be the Game Boy Color, and I still play mine on an almost daily basis. But, when it comes to my favorite system to play and the one that I use most often, I have to admit that the DS Lite does have my favorite game library; between all the games published for the original DS and GBA that can be played on it. Not to mention the ability to play original Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and NES games if you want to get tricky with DS flash carts and emulator programs.

I wish I had the presence of mind when I was younger to keep my old consoles, there are a ton of games I would love to replay again. 8-bit and 16-bit games are always going to be nostalgic, but the Dreamcast has a special place in my heart. Chu Chu Rocket, Space Channel 5, Grandia 2, Mars Matrix, that system was way ahead of its time.

Dreamcast games were great and I’m glad some of them got ported to newer consoles so I could play them.

Of the older consoles out there, I currently have a Genesis, SNES, N64, GameCube, Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Color (broken), Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Advance SP, DS, DS Lite and DSi.
