I know the websites is phone friendly but do you guy think it would be worth geting an app?
What do you think there is to be gained by having an MNFurs app?Easier access and probably more people would see it from “in your area” section maybe? That’s a good idea to me but it could be a lot of work.<3 Ruban
Is the forum section of the site compatible with TapaTalk? I use that app for most of my other regular forum browsing and like it a lot.Andrew -Â https://atomik.smugmug.com/

MNFurs uses a variety of free and some commercial set of software with a bunch of back end customization to make it work. Things that furries want or take for grant it to make a more community driven site.
Our purpose put by the board of directors is to help make a central communication that everyone can reach no matter where they are. So it’s important to have a website that is fully support what our furry community have.
That said our priority is to make the website as functional as possible without the need of additional plugs in or software on the client side. But at the same time don’t take away resources from the group that could help do well like run events or keep things moving.
A standalone app that mimic the site while would be fun – would be a huge burden think about 2-3x the amount of work to duplicate because we wouldn’t want to make it for one platform. It would have to be at least for Android and iOS.
Also since we don’t have much $$$ a lot of options are not available or if they are we have to use the generic free one that has ads/or limited functionality.
That being said there is some ways you can interact the site on mobile without going to the website.
Right now our chat client has a 3rd party app version https://www.mnfurs.org/MNFurs_Talk/mnfurs/stand-alone-mobile-app-mnfurs-chat-beta/.
We also have a few RSS feeds that can be used in Apple news/favorite RSS reader
For example:
RSS Feed of Site
MNFurs Forums RSS FeedThere are other things/ways we are looking into integrating into mobile. But it takes a bit of time and work.

In the past – a couple people looked into it. At the time TapaTalk wasn’t as friendly for sites and developers. It also limited what people could do with the site. Things that people request like being to do RSVP wouldn’t be possible with TapaTalk.
I should take another look at TapaTalk but if it’s something that people would get a lesser experience with and limit their interaction to the site then it’s a no go.
