So I was thinking, if there is nothing for some of us to do on the 4th of July… that some of the MNfurs members could go host a gathering for fireworks or maybe go to a existing one as well. It could be fun to chill and talk while watching fireworks or do some activities as well as seeing fireworks. What do you all think of this?I love the idea. We totally should!Well I know this isn’t on the fourth of July but on the 3rd of July there’s live music and a firework show down at Treasure Island Reaort and Casino. I do remember there used to be some kind of local fireworks display in St. Paul(?) I believe. I dont know if they do it anymore but it used to be over by Highland park. This would be great! I think it would be really fun to get together at an existing fireworks show. A lot of places often times have carnival rides and fun things to do too.
Yo! Hope you are having a wonderful day!

I think are going to be a lot of existing fireworks shows going on so it would be great to all meet up and see one of those.

Kurst "YipYap" HyperyoteI think going to one would be great. Might have to get to places early though! I know at both Central Park and Stillwater you’d better be there hours early or you won’t get a seat anywhere, sitting or standing.I’d be wary of doing one ourselves, though – I think there’s some sort of legal regulations around it? Not sure, but I think there is.
https://www.visitsaintpaul.com/blog/a-mysaintpaul-fourth-of-july/So, according to this cute little travel blog for St. Paul, we’ve actually got a lot of options, including but not limited to fireworks this July.
This website here https://www.familyfuntwincities.com/twin-cities-independence-day-activities/ also has some updated locations and times for 2018, and there’s a lot of different places that are gonna be doing stuff. I think the wisest thing we could do would be to pick a park or location nearby, and maybe collectively put some funds together to rent out a park shelter and use that as a point of focus. That way folks will have places to sit if they don’t have lawn chairs or blankets, and if we want to grill out or use the bathroom, everything is nearby. Does that sound like a decent idea…? I also offer up this idea knowing I probably won’t be able to make it, given the fact that I’m scrambling to prepare to move up there as we speak, but I offer this suggestion in hopes that it’ll help you guys out anyway.

So, if we paint a scenario…Who are we asking to figure out logistics and setup/run an event like this? In pointing out what Kurst said, there are plenty of events out there already by the city where the public can get together and the public does include us too. From running something ourselves, and this touches on Ridayah’s post, I worry about the legal aspects and other flags are raised with me on safety and let’s say people are in fursuit and around fireworks going off…Again I like the idea, but it also raises a lot of flags with me.
This is some of my input so far…Thanks!

Ah yeah I’m now also too skeptical about us hosting one. So I’d say that’s off the table due to legal issues regarding to that. But going to one fireworks show as a group would be a nice idea for either 4th of July or even to other holidays like New Years. And maybe even regular days if there is fireworks shows for that as well. Adding more activities into the mix like grilling, board/card gaming, dancing, or whichever type of side activities we can do to add more entertainment to the firework shows too.
So it’s just something I had bringed up basically to add more ideas of meets or events. But I just think it’ll be fun to go out and to have fun while watching fireworks 😀
So… I guess I’m confused. What are the legal issues? I can understand the fire hazard issues with folks wearing fursuits of course. But is there some stuff we’re not allowed to do as a group? Or what’s up? 😮Commission Email: [email protected]

Without getting into the state, county, city laws for fireworks in the area….. With or without fursuits there is some liability and insurance issues that would prevent individuals or groups from hosting something with fireworks. I have seen the costs to cover it we could have 2-3 conventions to cover the costs. If something happens without proper insurance the claims are just insane.

Kurst "YipYap" HyperyoteI’d be interested in going to an existing one if I don’t have to work. This is immediately before CONvergence.
