Winter Party Follow Up

First, I wanted to thank those that were able to show up and have fun at the event.  This was my first time trying to run something and was, in a matter of speaking, a result of last minute planning.  Special thanks to Tek, Wulf Siege, Jack and Drake for all their efforts, assistance and contributions.  From what I counted we had up to about 40 people there and no incidents were had.  The staff were happy with the way things went and were treated well.  One even commented that how we transformed the room and made it come alive, even though this is a smaller event than usual.  The contributions to cost (even though not asked for) were also greatly appreciated.  The location was also left in a good state and everyone was very good about cleaning up.  Thanks for all that and thanks for attending!

There were also a number of pictures and video taken, though unfortunately Tek’s photo set up did not get used as much.  But that’s okay, I’m sure there will be photos (and video) available from those that had cameras available.  I will make an attempt to contact those that have them to try and make them available to others though that probably won’t take much prompting.  There is a chance I may suggest future events here as well, even if it’s something smaller such as to just see a movie, but we will see.

I do want to touch on two things that did have a lot of opinion from people that don’t know much of the background behind planning this.  First one is not having it on the calendar.  This event really was a last minute impromptu.  This was an attempt to provide a mid-winter party where one was not planned, nor any real major event for a while.  There is an event submission form to advertise on the calendar, but that takes more time for planning than a month, and would also have hinged on whether or not it was approved to be on there.  So for that, and a few other minute reasons, it was not on the calendar.  I do honestly apologize that it could not have been on there, but anything in the future will be subject to better preparation.  Second, the timing.  I understand that it was midweek rather than being on a weekend.  That was due to the high cost to rent a space on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday for one.  I did not want that to be an issue to where others would have to pay for that.  The other is that I did not want to interfere with anything else that was going on during the weekends- such as the Petco event or the voting meets, among a few other minor things.  My goal was to not step in the way of the plans of others to the best that I could.  Either way feedback is good and if anyone has any critique, suggestions or approvals of how I put something together, feel free to contact me about it and I’ll be more than happy to respond.

All in all, this wasn’t as big as I would have liked to have seen it, but it seemed like everyone had a nice time and I hope it provided a fun distraction from what would otherwise be an empty week.  Again, thanks to everyone that showed up.  You guys were actually the ones to make this happen.  ^^

As Lailadie said, Thank you for going through all the effort, both you, and everyone else that helped, thank you.  It was good to leave the real world for a night and just have some fun for the night.
