Anime Detour 2016

Wait, we just finished AD 2015, why post this now?

Short answer:

Planning. Without planning, we have AD 2015. Which, to many, felt a little less fur accessible if not fur friendly than previous years.

Long Answer:

MNFurs had some really stellar room parties for several years.  But most of the talent used for those events moved, got married, or graduated to running departments for Migration.   This left few people to continue to run and the call for additional help was unanswered on top of this.  Add to this that many veteran suiters felt that private parties or “doing their own thing” would work better for them in long run.

Maybe that is true, but does not appear to be true to many others.

We did continue to have a few individuals run mobile con suite (thank you Zeepaw and Kane), help behind the scenes (Kitsunekla and Poetry Ninja) and a panel (thank you Cresil), but it still felt like it came up short to many furries.  No established photo shoot, no lounge, no place to just hang out and chat.

Not as well known to most of you is how much of AD staff asked me, “Where are the furries? Did we piss them off, we did not mean too”

No, our lack of presence was self-inflicted. Classic case of, “We want but do not wish to take time to make happen, we then do not get what we want.” Lesson learned.

Planning AD 2016:

So this is group to for you to shout out, “I’m going, I want there to be “X” for us, I’m willing to make sure it happens because I think it is fun for me and my furry friends!”

That’s awesome! That’s how these things start.

I’ll just be here to help out and point to: who to talk to, where to get supplies, how to register, etc.

I will not run, I’ve run 3 of these already, but I will show you everything I know on how to make it awesome for your efforts!  If you are looking to establish credibility as a competent community leader and get your 20 volunteer hours, this is an easy way to get it done.

Some Furs have already stepped up to help,  but I’m sure they need more help. Post here so we can get a tally of who want there to be a MNfurs AD2016 room party.

I did not attend this year due to work, life, & other extra-curricular activities keeping my busy…Did not want to burn out honestly.

At the present time, you have my interest…

In the past I have staffed AD, but I will not do so for 2016 so this can be more of a focus…I tried to juggle in the past and help out every now and then when I had a break from Roving ConSuite tasks, but that was a bad idea on a personal level.

AD attands for Anime Detour. There may be no interest because as he pointed out that other had some other ideas for room parties.

Also, I would like to help out with getting this back on track. I will be attending AD and may be getting a hotel planned to be able to go. It won’t be in the hotel the con is at, but it will be close by.

So, if you think that I can be of any help, please send me a pm. We can discuss about how I can contrubute to making the MNfurs make a big come back.
