We would like to welcome our community members to the 2013 midwinter party. Similar to the Holiday Party back in December, this is a tasty and fun pot-luck style event; so bring food and treats to share with everyone. It is also encouraged to bring your own beverages. There will be group activities announced during the event.

I am not requiring members to RSVP anymore.  You can still shout if you are going to attend or think you can.  So show up and have fun.  =)

NOTICE 2: We will have a comm center staff member there in the shadows monitoring things…This was something I could NOT get around.  Hopefully he/she will not be too much of a bother

This will be held on February 17 which is a Sunday.  Yes, I know Sunday’s are tough for some members, but it’s the only day on the weekend that is more open to times…Was told that every Saturday there are other groups there and to get our event squeezed in we would only be able to be there for about 3-4 hours…Personally that is not a lot of time in my opinion. 

 

Time frame is from 3:30p – 9:00.  There is a group before us and they have it reserved ’till 3:00.  I was told by the comm manager that the previous group is usually out between 2:30 – 2:45.

 

FOR MEMBERS THAT SHOW UP EARLY, RIGHT AS YOU ENTER THE COMM CENTER IS A LOBBY-LIKE AREA.  EVERYONE CAN HANGOUT THERE BEFORE ENTERING THE RESERVED ROOM (I WILL BE ROAMING AROUND TOO).

 

I have a multi-purpose (ROOM A & B) room reserved along with the kitchen.  The kitchen includes a couple microwaves, two oven/stove units, and cleanup area for dishes if needed.  The room itself is very spacious so we have lots of room to play with.  The room has many wall outlets so members might want to bring power strips if bringing items like a crock-pot, etc…

 

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND MEMBERS BRING THEIR OWN POWER STRIPS.  I HAVE A COUPLE I WILL BRING, BUT I DO NOT HAVE THAT MANY.

 

For members bringing their fursuits…We have a room across from the manager’s office down the hall where the kitchen is located (will direct in person where it is).  Once changed, members can just store their plastic totes, bags, etc in a corner of the multi-purpose room.

 

This event is going to be similar to the holiday party at the GPS Center.  I am encouraging members to bring their own food and treats to share.  Food can be home made or purchased…Also bring own beverages like soda, juice, etc…Some small group activities will be announced sometime during the event.

 

Parking is FREE and the lot is big enough to fit 20-25 cars.  There is also parking on the street alongside the community center and I did not see any signs indicating that you are limited to parking times.  Below is a link to a Google Maps shot.  Everything colored and marked accordingly with text.  The yellow star is the entrance to the comm center…

 

 
I have spoken to one member attending already who will help in making sure food portions in the room stay filled…Plus another for a food issue scenario.  I will need assistance when the event is near the end with tearing down tables, chairs, trash, etc…I am thinking at least 2 at the very most.  Time spent helping will go towards your 20 in volunteer hours.  Those details will be discussed and ironed out with the Volunteers lead afterwards.

 

Please feel free to share anything as far as game ideas, food, etc…Hopefully I didn’t miss any other details.  I hope lots of members can attend, see you all there!

Feral Rignasty told me that you are coming.  I want to thank you ahead of time for making the long trek up here.  I also hope you have a safe drive up as well and that’s cool you have a place to rest.

I expect to bring two things. One entree style and one snack-ish. I think I know which two things but I’m making them this weekend to test them out.
