Hmm we almost could use a meet and greet thing, something a bit more structured. I know for myself I’m libel to just sit there quietly and see if someone approaches me. I don’t like to impose myself on others at the meets.

- Mark TwainA meet and greet at Furry Migration would be great.I’d be more than happy to lend a hand with this idea!
Wow, this thread is on page two and it hasn’t even been 24hrs since the post. I’m excited to see interest in this idea.Most years there is a panel which is “welcome to your first con” survival panel. Maybe re-toll it as intro to the Furry Fandom? Or are you looking more 1 on 1 stuff. There are many ways to go with this.I’m more thinking 1 on 1 type.It seems to boil down to meeting new people.Well this idea does sound like it would be a great way to meet new people and make new friends. I am all for this. Another reason that I would like to try this out if it works is because if everything goes well with my seasonal job and if I manage to become a full time worker, I want to be able to save up to buy a fursuit either next year or much later this year so I can wear it to furry events. However my sister told me that it’s good to have a few friends at events and conventions because apparently it is very unwise to go said events without knowing anyone and that it is even dangerous. So again, this is something that I am very interested in trying out if it works.Yeah, I’m completely new but totally willing to meet people. A one-on-one mentor would be ideal in helping with answering questions and just a general introduction to the community. Maybe even helping with refining my fursona just based off of how more experienced members did it themselves…I dunno. Anyone interested in being my mentor? O.o;
I just moved to the border of Lakeville and Apple Valley; work in the Richfield/Edina area.
In my case I’ve just been gone so long it’s like I’m new. The 3 furs I actually know are too busy running the place to chat 😛 Sort of like coming home to your old town and everything’s changed."The problem is not that there are too many idiots in the world, the problem is the distribution of lightning."
- Mark TwainThis could be easily done in a manner like Big Brother/Big Sister.I might consider talking to you about helping to set up and manage a program like this.
And as Hikyuuri mentioned, I tend to be pretty recognizable.
Jack, let me know what you think.

I usually always keep myself available when I can when at an event or at any of the many bi-weekly meets…I am not at every meet though. People know who I am and when someone has questions they are pointed in my direction. I will always continue to be that kind of resource too…Also promoting Aerak as another great resource too. 🙂However, when at an event or a meet I tend to be everywhere versus one spot. XP
I see that there are discussions about setting up something bigger for this topic and I hope something comes out of it too!
I am always available offline too if not in person. This includes Twitter, FB, forum PM’s, & e-mail.

This is a cool idea! Although I’m not a new fur, I will keep eyes on this tab 🙂Yeah I went to the picnic too but since I was a kid and stuff I just nervously followed my grandma around I wasn’t really sure what to do or how to meet new people. I remember I talked to somebody in a black cat fursuit and that was about it. I’m pretty shy at times so I think this would be a great idea.“ everything that is beautiful people want to break, and you are beautiful I’m afraid “ - Nicole dollaganger
One of the better ways and places to meet up and get going with others I have found, is at the bi-weekly meet-up at the Perkins in Hopkins. It is awkward at first usually, but let yourself open to the chance to join a game (bringing one helps) conversation or many other options are possible.The biggest thing, come to an event.
